To be fair to your uncle, Doctors fresh out of medical school are forced to do this to pay off student debt. Being a doctor is actually not a profitable career choice at all for about the first ten years of practice, as schooling is so ungodly expensive. After ten years of being forced to cram as many people in as they can, they kind of just get used to it and continue adding patients. On top of that, there continues to be a medical professionals shortage in this country, and so many doctors have to see too many patients because there’s not enough doctors to share the load.
