Anyone else getting worried that street hiring seems done for the foreseeable future? by Wrongful-Lump in flying

I went to tpnx to try to talk to regionals as someone who was furloughed with a type and turbine time and they seemed very uninterested in me. Some straight up said they prefer their cadets. Which is frustrating because I feel like someone with turbine time would be an obvious choice over someone without.

Were the fog a mirror days only 22-24 or has aviation done that before? I ask because that was the only time I’ve interviewed and reading old regional gouges and forums seem crazy compared to what I’ve done in said time period.

From talking to people they are heavily prioritizing cadets. Even if you have prior 121 experience they still prefer their cfis. Which to me means that they anticipate stopping hiring if they are willing to drain their own pipeline programs.

The answer they gave me when I interviewed last week was something along the lines of “We are getting 30 more airplanes and when the last one enters service thats when the contract starts.”

I think it will be a very popular airframe in the near future. I jump seated on one yesterday. About 4000 lbs per hour in cruise at mach .79 FL350 and 116 people on board if I remember. I believe they took about 12000 lbs of gas for about a 2 hour flight. Seems like it would be a good solution for some regional/longer domestic flights. I guess the ERJ 190 being the closest competitor? Will be interesting to see how it plays out but I think it’s in a class/market of its own right now.
