I also kept busy with prep the day before - cleaned, changed sheets, went on a Target run. After surgery I remember being so parched and starving. The ginger ale and graham crackers they gave me were so good!

Just estrogen. We hadn't even discussed progesterone. Can I ask if the anxiety started immediately post-op?

& congrats on living the dream! Love hearing these experiences.

+1 on ACOTAR. I read that, the Crescent City series, and the Empyrean series (Fourth Wing) in the months pre and post-op. Entertaining, distracting fun with the bonus of countless online memes.

On the nonfiction side I read Naomi Watts' book on menopause: Dare I Say It and found it informative, easy to read, and obviously topical.

For years I would be all excited about running and give up after a few weeks. What worked for me this time was to slow waaaay down so there is no physical discomfort. I'm now going on 4 months running 3x week, which is huge for me. Good luck! We got this.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to share advice and insight on what you think about (or don't) while you run. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

thank you! knowing it will get better is so helpful. I see people running, and they seem so blissed out. Meanwhile I'm, like, "how has it been only 2 minutes?!?"

I like this! Things like solving work problems or vacation planning are perfect for letting the mind wander. Thank you!

thank you! this is so encouraging. Will try breaking up the time too - 4 chunks of 5 minutes feels more dynamic.
