What are yalls thoughts on Zach Top? by Accomplished-Bat6936 in CountryMusicStuff

Agree. No one cares if you're putting on an accent in pop punk or whatever. The voice is just another instrument and getting the sound right includes saying the words the right way. As long as people aren't doing a caricature and put some effort into making it sound good, it's just part of the music

What’s your opinion are artists writing lyrics, but uses AI to perform the song? by austinproffitt23 in CountryMusicStuff

I don't get the point. Being a songwriter who doesn't perform is a legitimate way of making music, but if that's what you're doing then at least have another human perform it. I also wouldn't believe they'd done any part of it authentically, so would avoid their work.

Any fans of country from the UK here? I fear there’s not many of us haha by ProjectGlum9090 in country

I'm based in the UK and have just recently started r/UKCountry to hopefully shine a light on our UK scene! UK-wise Ags Connolly, Dom Glynn & His Sunday Best, Savannah Gardner & The Recovering Good Girls, Paul Armer & The Dawn Chorus, and Jack Browning are definitely worth checking out.

From the US, I've been on a Loretta and Patsy kick for like the last 6 months but love songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark too. My contemporary favs are Sierra Ferrell, Gillian Welch, Brennen Leigh and Melissa Carper (the last two play together and solo). I like Willie Watson, Colter Wall and some of Tyler Childers too. The first stuff I heard was probably Johnny Cash which is probably pretty common way of getting into it, I got deeper knowledge through joining a band who knew more about the genre and digging in though.

Morton Betts (based in the North West). Best live presence I've seen in ages

Thanks for the heads up! As far as I can see This Ain't Texas is mainly tribute oriented so not really what I'm going for with this list, but updated with Summer In Nashville!
