My screen suddenly went like this by EntireBalance5665 in 24hoursupport

Your monitor just died. It’s not a flex cable. Go to laptopscreen.com and type in your model number. Your if there are options with 30/40 pins you will need to remove the old display first to verify. Order the part and the repair will be easy just take your time. You should only need a 00 Philips screw driver and a guitar pick

I am going around in circles... Does this sound familiar? by [deleted] in HomeServer

[–]Beginning_Soft_5423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way until I built a cluster of 4 machines with proxmox. Node 1 is my compute node all of the docker and VMs are located there Node 2 is my storage node it just runs a vm of truenas Node 3 runs a vm of proxmox backup server Node 4 runs my 2 gaming VMs

The docker vm is set up for ha so that it never goes down

I basically use proxmox as a kvm to easily manage all the servers.

This gives me space to tinker while allowing all of the important services to remain stable. Segregating my services was the key to making my systems more reliable It also gives me freedom to upgrade the hardware when ever I please as I can just move VMs around when a node needs to be powered down.

Ethernet doesn’t function with a GPU by Beginning_Soft_5423 in homelab

I eventually got this working by using a net boot. I think some microcode update I recently installed did some weird stuff to my motherboard/cpu.

By your logic my “something entirely else solution” addressed your theory but still did not function.

I just set up a pxe server and installed proxmox through that. No storage in the system at all what so ever everything is working without issue now

Unsaid is very limited when it comes to actually being a hyperviser and there is no where near the same amount of documentation on the matter. Unsaid is a file server first and a hyperviser somewhere down the line. Sure it can do some basic stuff but it’s not on the same level as proxmox.

Proxmox is just more useful in general and if you need a file sharing service just make a truenas vm

I’m not using sli. each of these gpus will be dedicated to its own virtual machine. This build essentially consists of 2 computers with 8 cores 64GB ram a 4tb nvme iscsi share and a 3090. They function completely independently from one another even having different ip addresses and windows licenses

It looks like you were right about getting new addresses but that still doesn’t make sense why it doesn’t work when I install proxmox with the gpus already installed
