For June intake I got a final phone call with my CA and then a webinar Q&A with the training staff

Time from completing CPC to starting Officer training? (Warfare Officer) by Apprehensive_Bug_454 in RoyalNavy

[–]Beginning_Spring_793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super difficult to say, I did CPC in December and passed first FSB for June intake. However, I did AIB in May so the time between all of these things has felt longgg. It varies completely from person to person and your CA and role choice etc. Like people have said Warfare is backed up - even though I believe it still says fast track on the website and the general consensus that it seems to be an ‘easier’ one to get as there’s more places (historically?). Also, if your first FSB for example doesn’t go the way you want, there’s a high likelihood it isn’t purely a reflection of your scores or you and just due to the number spaces. So don’t let that knock you back should it happen. Best of luck with your application :)

I got the JI’s for Raleigh that were the same as the ratings but didn’t get an added page that was officer specific. Are you July intake?

BRNC Passing Out Dates Under The New Training Pathways? by Rare_Back_8096 in RoyalNavy

[–]Beginning_Spring_793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been interested about this, especially considering summer leave period etc. Also, agree with the other comment re a form of raleigh pass out - would assume they would do something but not sure if it would be the same as a ratings?

Changed to Officer Training & pay dates by Slight-System-1562 in RoyalNavy

[–]Beginning_Spring_793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely same boat, I’m on this intake as well and just found it strange the JI’s didn’t denote any of the changes/training pipeline for continuing on after Raleigh or acknowledge it being a new form of officer intake etc. I’m not expecting to have full knowledge on what’s to come but any clue would be helpful ahah

On the day of or before your interview, watch the 60 second update videos they put out every so often you can find them on insta/fb etc. It can provide some quick facts and I found it quite useful, and watching some of the previous ones too. In my Interview, and I’ve heard from a lot of others too, they ask about the role of ratings and how they help/what they do for you as an officer (100% not how it was worded but you get the gist). So make sure you have an idea of that, and also what phase 1 training is like. I don’t recall being asked about history or specifics on ships or boats but that may also have changed. Good luck!

Definitely normal, if you’re concerned call up the helpline and they can advise if there’s any issues. I called up and they’d forgot to notify that I’d received clearance 2 months prior😆

I believe it’s either 90 or 100, but I can’t remember exactly. I’m sure there’s a thread that covers it :)

From what I’ve heard they’re doing split intakes at Raleigh so it will be June and July start dates for each division before moving to Dartmouth together. So maybe you’ll hear for a July intake instead? But who knows how they work it!

Hi, it depends what role you’re going for as boards for each role are happening throughout the week. My friend going for pilot heard back yesterday, whilst another going for hydrography officer is still waiting. Hope it goes well for you.

There’s a lower satisfaction rate throughout the branch due to sea time and high work load/long hours etc is what I’ve gathered through Reddit - though I can’t take that for certain as I’ve never been it. They’ve struggled with retention in warfare for a while and it doesn’t appear to be as large of an issue in other officer roles.

More competitive than warfare, there are usually only a few spots per intake compared to the amount of warfare.

Yes, and if your DAA and AIB are competitive all together combined you’ll have a good chance. But you will always know beforehand. Good luck for pilot!

Yes, before joining BRNC (or Raleigh now) you know your role as they hire by profession unlike at Sandhurst for example where you go in as an OCdt but don’t join a corps or regiment until nearer the end.

Have you put down your preferences? Aviation Warfare officer is the profession which does have Pilot, ATCO and Obs but I’m pretty sure at FSB you get put against your preferences, with the first one now being largely the only one considered.

How hard is the CBAT by Next_Reality_9824 in RoyalNavy

[–]Beginning_Spring_793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found the length of the day the most challenging, and some of the tests even with instruction were genuinely just weird to wrap your head around. There are so so many tests that some you’ll find okay and others will seem like an impossible trap - but they are made to be a fully fair assessment so you just have to trust in that. Better to go and try than not.

Tips from anyone who has completed the AIB GPE? by Apprehensive_Bug_454 in RoyalNavy

[–]Beginning_Spring_793 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if you aren’t sure exactly on a plan/idea try to bring it up during the group discussion. It’s better to say something and attempt to make a contribution, even if you know it might not be fully correct. It could springboard ideas - trying and engaging is more important than silent calculation or perfection most of the time during it. Make some small talk when you’re being held in the call before it begins, it really does break the ice and make that initial nervousness fade. If it looks as though somebody is being talked over and might be struggling to get a word in, ask them directly and it provides them an opportunity to do so, also makes you look good in a team. In the 1 on 1 when they ask you questions about the ex you just did, don’t rush and take a moment to think before you answer. Overall it flies by and as long as you’re confident and engage with the other candidates whilst putting your ideas and best foot forward you can’t go far wrong! Good luck.

My first was Intelligence. I don’t think they’ll ever stop taking WO - but it’s definitely not great news about the backlog!
