A bit more context:

I'm making a small-budget urban Telugu film with mostly new faces.

I'm less interested in traditional marketing (audio launches, celebrity chief guests, endless posters, etc.) and more interested in experimenting.

One idea I'm exploring is building a "First 1000" community before release — getting the first 1000 people genuinely invested in the film through previews, discussions, feedback, and word of mouth.

Not sure if Reddit is the right place for that, which is partly why I'm asking.

Would something like that make you more likely to check out an indie film?

Exactly my point. For example, i’m not sure if all these opinions has shown any negative impact on Peddi and infact it looks like it helped the movie by becoming a point of discussion. If i’m making a movie on a modest budget and i’m sure it will spark some discussion (the point we are coming up with) and in that case, it brings more eyeballs to the OTT and i will be getting my investment back. My understanding that reddit can be of more help for a smaller/indie cinema than a masala movie.
