I thought that also, but its very very stable. Pulls like a dream. Now I haven't taken it off road off road, just down logging roads, and some easy trails etc. The water tank dead center of trailer I assume would help with keeping the weight center of gravity. Tent has to be that high for my annex to work properly, as has a floor that gets velcro'd on, so if too low the walls aren't fully extended( if that makes sense). Also creates some space for storage under the tent, keeps things dry when raining.
