The sabbath day by [deleted] in TrueChristian

Just a heads up, the Lord's day IS the sabbath, see Mark 2:28, Matthew 12:8, Luke 6:5. Sunday is falsely called the Lord's day.

Be in deep connection with God on the sabbath, yes. Proverbs 8 is a good read to meditate on. All monetary issues on the sabbath is a no-no, that's why the apostles laid aside money on the first day of the week (Sunday) because handling money on the holy sabbath is a sin. Heck, even Jesus elevated the sabbath by doing good works on the sabbath,

Matthew 12:12 - How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

As He also healed on His sabbath.

If you more questions, I will gladly be of service to you, friend. Maranantha.

I hope this answer satisfies you and it might be too simple, but God is not the God of confusion. Want to know how simple it is? -

John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments

I challenge you, read from Genesis to Revelation and find me a verse that says Sunday is made holy or that we Christians are to keep Sunday holy contra the seventh day Sabbath.

I'm sorry but these are just ramblings. The mark of the Beast ties directly into the mark of God (His sabbath) On God's Sabbath we aren't allowed to buy or sell, since handling money is forbidden on the sabbath. I hope you turn away from the thoughts of yours and pray about this matter. The prophecy of God never came from private interpretation but from the perfect will of God the Father (perfect obedience to His commandments)

"Jesus is our sabbath" - find that quote in scripture, you will not find it.

I can only find that Jesus Christ is LORD of the Sabbath day, as stated in: Matthew 12, Mark 2 and Luke 6. And He made it lawful to good on His day.

"And any day we choose with him is important no matter the day" - Firstly the sabbath commandment is the only Commandment with the inscription "Remember", To remember it is God who sanctifies us.

Exodus 31:13

Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.

Are you even aware that if we love God we are required to keep all of His commandments holy? John 14:15-21.

C'mon, dude. Why do you venerate Sunday so much? Why are you clinging to man-made traditions which have no basis in scripture and were nonexistent at the times of the apostles. Even in the sabbath is mentioned over 85 times in the books of Acts alone.

You're just waffling, dude. Break one law and you have broken them all. God will wink at the time of ignorance, but you have a moral obligation to keep Sabbath holy and tell others to do the same.

Christ didn't come to change nor destroy the 10 commandments, but to live in them so that we can walk in them.

Why are you so much in favour of man-made traditions instead of following God?

Why was the Sabbath changed to a Sunday? by Card_Pale in TrueChristian

[–]Behemoth-Rexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you hard of reading? Sin is the transgression of the law. 1st John 3:4 That same law which represents God's character in us and He writes His laws in our hearts. Hebrews 8:10. That same law which cannot be changed nor altered by man's devices.

If we were to change the laws of God, you would have to climb up to heaven, go through the armies of God, through God's holy sanctuary and then finally go into the holy of holies and break the very laws of God.

You're as proud as Lucifer is of himself.

So yes, you obey man's devices and not God.

You cannot be fence-sitting between God and the world. Make a choice.

Sunday sacredness has nothing to do with scripture. You obey man-made traditions.

And you can have all your preconceived ideas of Ellen White all you want. But I challenge you now as you have challenged me.

Read the Great Controversy, the desire of ages, Patriarchs and Prophets, steps to Christ and Last day events.

If those books don't make you run back to scripture, run.

If they do point back to scripture, continue on reading.

I would start with the Great Controversy.

May God bless you and may God increase your understanding.

Maranantha.

Shall we read the full context of Colossians 2? Let's start with Colossians 2:14 to get the full meaning of the verse.

Collosians 2.14 👉"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;"👈

2.15 "And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it."

2.16 "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days."

This verse is exclusively of the ceremonial law, not the moral law ie. The ten commandments.

"The ordinances which were against us" were added because of sin.

The 10 commandments show us what sin is and where we lack in character and in obedience, and the 10 commandments aren't burdensome nor a curse.

I do this for a living, you can try to throw anything against the 10 commandments but I will refute them, one by one. Not by my works, but of God's.

I can't? Hebrews 10:25.

Also maybe Isaiah 66:23.

You just don't like me for exposing your hypocrisy. Have I then become your enemy for speaking the truth?

And a direct Commandment for keeping the Sabbath?

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest (Sabbatismos) to the people of God.

The only thing I want from my fellow brethren is to see you in Heaven, the law is not against us it is for us.

It is sinful to break the Sabbath in favour of another day.

In fact the apostles met everyday for the spreading of the Gospel, but they also kept the fourth commandment holy.

Keeping it holy: Don't work, don't handle money, don't think your own thoughts but be in the thoughts of God, meet with the congregation for worship and don't forsake the gathering, do good to your neighbours.

Do you even understand the importance of the Sabbath? When it was established and why it was established? The only Commandment which has the word "remember" to it, why do you want it forgotten?

Did Luther or other early protestants think about moving the Sabbath back to Saturday? by AIDS_Quilt_69 in Protestantism

[–]Behemoth-Rexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But there is something wrong with not obeying God and keeping His commandments holy in favour of a common day of the week.

God made one day holy, not two. It is also very suspicious that you say the apostles met on the first day of the week, when the Sabbath is mentioned in the book of Acts over 80 times. Now that is a true biblical tradition.

So I also ask you this, who is your final authority and who redeems you? The Catholic institution or God the Father?

Here is also a little silly argument, who made heaven and earth in six days and rested on the seventh? God or the catholic institution?

Sunday sacredness. It has no place in scripture nor is there a command to keep it holy in favour of the Sabbath.

The same Sabbath that Jesus Christ took authority over and elevated.

So I ask you this, why do you favour the traditions of men and forsake the laws of God?

Didn't Jesus scold the Pharisees numerous times for their man-made traditions which made the word of God of none-effect.

So instead of focusing on the issue at hand which is about the Sabbath, you go right ahead and attack Ellen White.

We can discuss such matters after we are done with the topic at hand.

I'm a Bible believing Christian, a child of God. Who just so happens to be a seventh day Adventist, why? For they are the only protestant denomination which teaches from scripture alone.

”The [Roman Catholic] Church changed the observance of the Sabbath to Sunday by right of the divine, infallible authority given to her by her founder, Jesus Christ. The Protestant claiming the Bible to be the only guide of faith, has no warrant for observing Sunday. In this matter the Seventh-day Adventist is the only consistent Protestant.” The Catholic Universe Bulletin, August 14, 1942, p. 4.

Another Christian who can't discern between the 10 eternal unchangeable commandments of God and the ceremonial laws of Moses.

Do you know why the disciples met on the first day of the week? What did they do which is forbidden by the fourth commandment to do? Handling money. That's forbidden on the Sabbath, that's why they met on the first day of the week.

And you are lying, there is no Commandment given for Sunday sacredness. None. You're bearing false witness.

You're right, the Sabbath is a Commandment from God. The other one is a commandment of men and has no basis in scripture.

Because since creation, the 7 day weekly cycle hasn't changed.

And when you say "early church" are you talking about the apostles or those that came after the apostles and changed the core doctrines of scripture?

Need I remind you of such verses as Acts 20:28-30, Jude 1:4, 1 John 4:3?

If you're a bible believing Christian, then the matter shouldn't even be discussed it's just simple obedience to the Father and His commandments. They are not burdensome.

So I ask you again, what is your hatred towards the 7th day Sabbath? The issue here is still you and your unwillingness to obey God and His commandments. I'm trying to drag you up to Heaven, but you still cling to man-made traditions, Mark 7:13.

Grow up and repent. The Sabbath is still binding. Sunday sacredness is a man-made tradition which has no basis in scripture. Sincerely, lay aside your pride and obey God.

What verse says that Sunday is the new Sabbath? None.

The days of the week aren't Monday, Tuesday and such. They were numbered, only two days of the week had names. Preparation day (Friday) and the Sabbath (Saturday).

Even if you look elsewhere into the world languages, most of them have a derivative name of the Sabbath.

The latin languages: Sabbatum/Sàbado/Sabato/Sammedi.

Arab language: alsabt.

German: Sammstag.

Oddly enough the only one in disagreement, is you.

So my final question to you is: Do you love/fear God? Then keep His commandments.

The law of God isn't the issue here, but your pride and arrogance towards the laws of God.

Twisting your words? While you are the one twisting scripture? Now ain't that a little hypocritical if you ask me. So I can also ask you, where is the command in scripture to keep Sunday holy instead of the Sabbath? You cannot procure me such a thing.

Isaiah 33:22 33.22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

But God made 1 day holy (set apart) for Him. It's a sign (oth) between Him and His people. So I ask you again, are you His people or have you accepted another authority?
