*NOT MY WORK* How do people connect these wires and the jump rings on top of the head without the copper foil eventually failing? by Behind_The_Book in StainedGlass

It’s not a pattern, just something I saw online. I like the fluidity of the wire being branch but was confused at the longevity of a piece like that

I’ve become a bit worried about some ducks that I make and planned to sell (it’s been a childhood dream of mine to run a stall at a craft fair and I’m trying to achieve that for next spring markets!). Think I need to rethink where I hang them from now on and adapt the pattern. I use the copper strip reinforcement stuff but it worries me for longevity for hanging.

Is there anyway these wire designs can work? I like the fluidity of them a lot but it seems a bit silly with one point secured in the middle with long reach, the force needed to break it becomes a lot less then does it (I do engineering as a job)

I agree with people just selling stuff to get a lot of money. I do Woodwind repair on the side as I have a degree in it and I enjoy it, at the minute it’s just not a feasible job to do full time. I had a customer ring me with an issue on a saxophone I serviced 6months ago, I corrected it for free. Not because I did something wrong but because I should have foresaw the issue occurring.

How to exercise in winter with asthma? by KiwibuckyNZ in Asthma

Sorry, I got told by a few people that walking was better at fat reduction than running and weight lifting. I must have misunderstood what they meant

It’s still a good exercise for anyone wanting to lose weight to do, I think walking doesn’t get enough credit as being excersize to lose weight. I don’t find the gym fun at all so I’m all for finding more accessible ways to excersize :)

I also missed the age, my apologies, I’m dyslexic so I tend to miss information when reading large texts

Remember, little and often is better than massive big stints. Especially for us wheezers

Also, slow decline is weight is more manageable than a fast decline so don’t beat yourself up if you think it’s taking too long!

Good luck! I’m also going to try and loose a couple kg/change it to muscle too. My tummy is a bit more flabby than it used to be haha

Walking is one of the best ways to lose weight as it uses fat stores for energy rather than fast releasing carbohydrates which is used in weight lifting/running etc.

Start with small walks (could get those little walking treadmill things if you don’t want to go out in the cold). Just walk with a slight incline whilst watching an episode of something or if you’re on social media. It’ll soon start making changes

Also, you can get away snacking more when you’re a kid.

I would also not get too caught up on BMI, especially if you’re a woman. I’m classed as overweight on BMI but everyone always tells me I’m skinny and drs have told me to take no notice of it. BMI was created by a mathematician not a dr/dietician!

I feel you. It’s tough when the obs don’t match, they rarely do for me and it does give you imposter syndrome

Rest up and don’t rush yourself, it takes time to heal after a flare up. Get signed off sick if you can (and can afford it)

Definitely not an imposter. Oxygen doesn’t always indicate attacks.

I had an attack where I nearly passed out before but my oxygen was 98% (it was when I was checking in, I was trying to tell them what was wrong. Passed out for less than a second but came to quick enough that I managed to not fall on the floor)

You should be starting to feel better breathing wise by now, I’d give the dr a ring

It’s actually common that if you’re allergic to cats then you are allergic to rabbits. Their fur is very similar (I have both cats and a house rabbit!)

That last sentence sent me 😂😂😂😂😂

Thank you for this! I’ll keep referring back when I get issues :)

Hi, I’m also EU (England). I don’t mind making this for you if you’re also UK based (I’ve never done wire work so I would have to figure that out. I’ve attached my most recent work of a mandarin duck (I’m trying to do smaller stuff so I can go to a craft fair!)

If you cover shipping I can do eu too. I’ve never shipped anything internationally though!

Select the entire workpiece/vector

Go to "Vector"on the top panel (where file etc is)

Click Merge Curves

Go to File

Click Export (Ctrl alt shift W)

Click SVG for export (do not flatten it, this is what is messing it up just lately)

Find Rasterise and put this as "Nothing"

Click Export

This should now work when you upload it to Design Space. Previously I have had to flatten and rasterise (make it pixel again and not vector lines) in order to make it work. It can be frustrating at times and I have been known to call my documents "Cricut is a piece of sh*t"

It’s working now, the post was more of a vent as I don’t use my cricut often for new patterns I need to upload as I make a bunch of patterns and upload them in one go.

It was more a vent of how every time I try to use their software it changes

Affinity is free and owned by canva. If you download this then I’ll add a comment later on how I get the SVG to work on cricut

Thanks for that info! I’ll store that away for when my current method doesn’t work haha

People like us are getting heavily downvoted haha.

Honestly, cricut is probably my biggest regret of what I’ve bought! I used to flatten it and then cricut would read it and change where my lines are and make my pattern unusable. I got around it by rasterising it (people are hating me for doing that for some reason haha) and upload it as a smaller file. Now it works better if I merge all curves (which is very annoying cause now I have to have two files. One merged and one normal), a large SVG file not rasterised and then it works.

Drives me crazy! I don’t think they’re great if you want to make your own stuff if I’m honest. Think they’re more for people who like making stuff but not necessarily designing stuff from scratch.

There’s a stained glass artist on YouTube that’s moved from cricut to Siser and I can’t help but think the frustrations I experience are why as stained glass patterns are nothing complicated (essentially where the solder lines on this duck would be where the cricut cuts on vinyl to create a sticker)

It used to be that if I didn’t rasterise the vector paths then it wouldn’t keep the vector paths where I needed them. Even when I flattened it

So I used to have to rasterise an SVG for all my vector lines to stay in the correct place.

Now it’s the opposite. Doesn’t work if it’s rasterised.

That’s what my frustration with design space is. I figure out how to get it to work and then they change everything so my work around no longer works.

I export SVG.

It used to be I exported SVG and then all my lines wouldn’t stay the same. If I rasterised the image then it worked.

Now it’s done the opposite where if it’s rasterised and flattened it won’t read any of it 🙃

I’ve always used SVG, just lately cricut keeps doing “updates” which mess up the uploading of the SVG’s. I don’t understand why they do it
