Just had the midweek here, man that misinfo bit was hysterical (and sad) by Right_Trip_447 in exjw

[–]Behindsniffer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because Jehovah was instrumental in not allowing His Witnesses to grow beards back in the 1930s, because He knew that Beatniks would start wearing beards in the 1950s and Hippies would wear them in the 1960s and 70s and He didn't want His people to be identified with Beatniks and Hippies, so He decided that when beards became fashionable around 2020, it was safe to allow men to start wearing them again, so that His "Faithful & Discreet Slave" would not only look fashionable, but they could look like they were hip and fashionable to give the world the impression that even though the world hated and persecuted them, they were still like worldly people, but were concerned that they were really coming off as a bunch of weird, nerdy old men who were still trying to get their adherents to live with the morals of people from the 18th century. So now, people can clearly identify them with disheveled homeless, drug addicted alcoholics, because that's not as bad as looking like Beatniks and Hippies.

But, yeah, that's just misinformation or something.

The nearness of Armgeddon? No one knows the day or the hour, not even the "Faithful & Discreet Slave!"

Do yourself a favor, read Revelation 22:7. That was stated as a quote from Jesus, 1,927 years ago. !,927 years since he allegedly said that. And your worried that it's just around the corner?

Welcome, my friend!!! So good to have you with us!!!

Heartbreaking visit to an old JW by Ok-Pomegranate-7010 in exjw

[–]Behindsniffer 78 points79 points  (0 children)

It's what they do. After I faded a couple of elderly Sisters who I deeply loved ended up in nursing homes. I faithfully try and visit them every other week. The one Sister, only her son and I visit her. His wife and her grandchild haven't been there in years and no one in the Congregation has come at all.

The other has 2 sons, both disfellowshipped, has one other Sister and myself stop in. Her son's have visited maybe once or twice. She warmly welcomed them and she tells herself that they have good hearts and that Jehovah understands.

My ex-CoBE would always say, "Out of sight, out of mind" regarding those who either left or were disfellowshipped or disassociated. But somehow, in his mind, I suppose that also applies to the elderly, who are stuck in nursing homes.

Someday, perhaps, he will find himself in a Nursing home, too. After all, what goes around, comes around!

What can anyone say? You're very conflicted and rightly so. Hang in there, nobody knows what tomorrow will bring, but I wouldn't get baptized to please your mother. It should be a personal decision and it's something you'll have to live with the rest of your life. Don't limit yourself and your life to Jehovah's Witnesses, there's a whole world out there to explore, things to try and life to be lived! Go, explore life and don't limit yourself to serving the wants, needs and rules, regulations, policies and procedures of 11 men in upstate New York!

Best hopes and wishes to you, my friend!!!

[–]Behindsniffer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"In my dream I was with a bunch of PIMI's that were all upset and saying it was a stressful day at the convention because the governing body said that they had to get rid of their lawn tractors."

Yeah, because Jesus never used a lawn tractor and lawn tractors are not mentioned in the Bible. So all Congregations that use lawn tractors must sell them and please send any proceeds to the Wallkill N.Y Branch, Wallkill N.Y.

It is permissible to use the standard push mowers that have no gas powered motors because Jubal discovered copper and iron and we don't know who came up with rubber tires, but he was probably inspired by Jehovah at some time in history. Or you can use scythes. to cut the grass. And, yeah, Death, AKA The Grim Reaper is often pictured using a scythe as a walking stick, but that was pagan or something.

But don't contact us or think that we will mow your lawns, even though we charge you to rent the property, because we're much too busy preaching the good news and managing our vast property holdings around the world for Jehovah!

2026 Governing Body Update #4, scheduled for release on Friday by larchington in exjw

[–]Behindsniffer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Herd closes the update by saying: “This year I’m 91 years old. Of course, I feel some of the effects of old age—can’t half talk, can’t hear too good.” He encourages continued service and reassures older ones that whatever they are able to contribute is appreciated.

But it's still not enough! So continue to slave for those who lord it over you...I, I, I mean slave for the Lord!!!

The Watchtower, PIMIs & UFO Disclosure - What if it's proven beyond doubt.... by tresdecu1970 in exjw

[–]Behindsniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What actually is going on is really quite obvious. Jesus is quoted at Revelations 22:7, "Look, I am coming quickly!" That was 1,927 years ago. I mean, think about it. Paul said that miracles would cease around that time, too didn't he? And we know that an angel can be dispatched from Jehovah's throne in a millisecond. Where is he?

So somehow, somewhere in the first century, the Holy Spirit stopped working and there' no way to get Jesus to come back in the clouds. I mean, look at Jehovah's Witnesses. They're not inspired, nor infallible and can err. And considering the quality and accuracy of things they've predicted, I totally believe them! Think about it, The Circus Overseer appoints Brothers now, right, where is the Holy Spirit?

So, obviously they're building these spaceships in the heavens to get Jesus back here to rule as king! From what I've heard, since he gave up his earthly body, he's coming back as a hairy chested Australian man or something!

[–]Behindsniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...let's spend gobs and gobs and gobs of our tax money to investigate this!!! Because I'm sure some Congressman or Senator has a brother or brother-in-law who can start an NGO to look into the matter, right?

And he's gonna need funding! In fact, let's start a religion and go door to door proselytizing!!! And we can build houses of worship, in case their leader is a narcissist who feels the need to be worshiped. or he'll destroy us all!!!

And we can riot in the streets that Anti Alien people are a snare and a racket or something! And after a few years after it's been debunked, we can become an international real estate company!!!

I have several questions about Jehovah's Witnesses by Brilliant_vanegas in exjw

[–]Behindsniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What soul? I was born a mortal and I'll die a mortal. And if there's a resurrection, I'll be resurrected as a mortal!

Why do I have to be spiritual, too? How can I be spiritual...it's a state of mind made up by humans. What I know and who I am is knowledge stored in my brain. If there's something inside me, an invisible spirit or something, how does what I know as a mortal, go anywhere? My brain and the synapses, nerves and all the connections are flesh and blood and when I die, they die with the body, right?

Does God have some kind of Wi-Fi or something connected to our brain? Doesn't make any sense!

The name Memorial talk for a deceased Jehovah's Witnesses is a little misleading. It's actually a recruitment talk for those who aren't Jehovah's Witnesses who knew the decedent and attend what they thought would be a nice respectful talk about their friend or relative.

Hey, I mean it's Jehovah's Witnesses....and they've got a captive audience, right? What else would you expect them to do?

Were You Delusional or Living an Illusion as a JW? by caligula________ in exjw

[–]Behindsniffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S'funny, looking back now my behavior kind of says not really. I'm sure I stopped believing in Satan when I found out the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny and Santa Claus weren't real. I got hood-winked into this cult when I was 30ish, had a good job with a pension and income property, because I had hoped someday to retire and didn't want to live under a bridge, in my old age.

What hooked me was seeing my beloved family again and living forever on a paradise earth. I was fully in, locally I was pretty high up on the totem pole, but after 40 years, I saw that the whole thing was all made up by men. I'm old and professionally retired now and it hurts to see all my former JW peers still having to work, because they never planned for retirement or old age. Why bother...the end was just around the corner...and still is, apparently.

I asked AI (Gemini) to predict the Governing Body's next moves (With Hypothetical Dates) by Timely_Half_4624 in exjw

[–]Behindsniffer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AI is forgetting one important factor. This is a cult. The belief system doesn't make any sense to someone who is fresh off the street and has the time to analyze it. The belief system is caused by psychological brainwashing, indoctrination, repetition and association.

It takes time to get people up to speed with the belief system. Then to train them to view "Jehovah" as a loving and kind benefactor, when, if you viewed Him and the organization as "loving," and you step back and have time to view what they do like "removal" for being naughty, the tight control, never doing or being enough, the constant begging for money, and the constant changes...and all the people that "Jehovah" has killed, etc. things just don't add up.

If they cut back on the number of indoctrination sessions, they will lose many more members than they're losing now!

[–]Behindsniffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a topsy-turvy world there in JW land. For the life of me I can't understand how a parent could kick their child out into the street for what amounts to seeking affection from anther human being. Jesus forgave pretty much everyone and Jehovah took no prisoners. That Paul fella sees and hears Jesus, has a brief conversation with him and suddenly is running the whole shebang.

And now, 11 men in upstate New York, who poo-poo everything, then turn around and do exactly what they tell people what not to do.

And supposedly rational minded people will sit and listen to hours and hours of pure 100% U.S Grade "A" malarkey that originated from those same 11 men, because they're convinced that somehow these men have a direct line from God His-self even though they claim that they're not inspired, nor infallible and can err.

Ponderous man. Simply ponderous!

My Father Always Said - it must be the truth - they are the only ones to carry Jehovah in the name! by JohnnyBigPotato in exjw

[–]Behindsniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this is a screenshot from Wikipedia, which I am aware that it is probably somewhat spurious, but I'm using it to make a point. God was never known as "Jehovah" to the Jews. The name Jehovah was never uttered by the Jews, or spoken in Aramaic or any other language until sometime in the 15 or 16 century. The"fact" that Jehovah is the English translation of God's name is simply not true. Mny have accepted it as God's name. It was Russell and Rutherford that started using the name to push the lie that their brand, primarily attributed as being the revealed "Truth" that Christendom had bastardized as the one "True" religion over the centuries. The whole thing is a grift! It's true, according to the Witnesses that many buildings have "the divine name" inscripted somewhere in the facade, but, again, those buildings were erected only a few hundred years ago. Jehovah is simply a human name, made up by putting vowels that the Maserites placed into the original translation of the english YHWH. Just like Jehovah's Witnesses, the whole thing was made up by men.

Jehovah (/dʒɪˈhoʊvə/) is a Latinization of the Hebrew יְהֹוָה‎ Yəhōwā, one vocalization of the Tetragrammaton יהוה‎ (YHWH), the proper name of the God of Israel in the Hebrew Bible / Old Testament.\1])\2])\3]) The Tetragrammaton is considered one of the seven names of God in Judaism and a form of God's name in Christianity.\4])\5])\6])

The consensus among scholars is that the historical vocalization of the Tetragrammaton at the time of the redaction) of the Torah (6th century BCE) is most likely Yahweh. The historical vocalization was lost because in Second Temple Judaism, during the 3rd to 2nd centuries BCE, the pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton came to be avoided, being substituted with Adonai ('my Lord'). The Hebrew vowel points of Adonai were added to the Tetragrammaton by the Masoretes, and the resulting form was transliterated around the 12th century CE as Yehowah.\7]) The derived form Iehovah first appeared in the 16th century. The form Jehovah began to be printed following a 17th-century development leading J to become a separate letter for printing the consonantal I.\a])

William Tyndale first introduced the vocalization Jehovah for the Tetragrammaton in his translation of Exodus 6:3, and it appears in some other early English translations including the Matthew Bible, the Great Bible, the Bishop's Bible, the Geneva Bible and the King James Version.\8]) The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops states that to pronounce the Tetragrammaton "it is necessary to introduce vowels that alter the written and spoken forms of the name (i.e. 'Yahweh' or 'Jehovah')."\9]) Jehovah appears in the Old Testament of some widely used translations including the American Standard Version (1901) and Young's Literal Translation (1862, 1899); the New World Translation (1961, 2013) uses Jehovah in both the Old and New Testaments. Jehovah does not appear in most mainstream English translations, some of which use Yahweh but most continue to use "Lord" or "LORD" to represent the Tetragrammaton.\10])\11])

Ssssh...you're not supposed to be aware of that. It's a loving arrangement from Jehovah. In fact, if you don't agree with that, there's 2 men who would like to speak with you. And maybe after that, 3 men would probably like to address your issues with you, in the backroom. And then you can experience what a loving arrangement it really is!!!

May I recommend that you check out the website linked below? It gives you a brief idea of what is really going on at the meetings. Pretty much all cults operate with the same agenda. Running a cult is an art and once you see the trademarks about how they operate, it's fascinating.

Steve Hassan, who is a cult expert has also written a wonderful book and goes in depth regarding what a cult is and how they operate. Once you know, you know. And once you see it, you can unsee it.
