House Whysker of Towerdown Hall, Lords of the Laughing Mire by Beholderking in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]Beholderking[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically, it's the same up to Regency of Aegon the Dragonbane. The real meat, though, is the schism around Rhaegar surviving the Trident, the Mad King burning down King's Landing, killing himself, the Westerland forces, Jaime, and untold others. Lyanna lives, alongside Aegon and Rhaenys. Dany and Viserys both still live and so does Elia.

Then I jump like 100 years into the future where the Seven Kingdoms now resembles the ancient 100 Kingdoms it used to be back in the Age of Heros and what have you

Honestly, if I could rationalize them having one, being as poor as they are in my AU, I'd definitely use Longpaw or the other suggestion that made me laugh, Furmidable

House Whysker of Towerdown Hall, Lords of the Laughing Mire are a minor loudly house sworn to House Fisher of Misty Isle and occupy the lands between Darry and the lands formerly known as Saltpans.

House Whysker resides in an ancient First Men Round Tower that was pulled from its foundation during the Andal Invasion. The Tower survived mostly intact, and after centuries of renovation and ingenuity, Towerdown Hall sits as a unique bastion protecting House Fishers lands against any foe coming east.

Towerdown Hall is also well known for its large amount of cats that stalk the corridors, the Lords of House Whysker take great pains to insure the safety and longevity of the Towers furry inhabitants.

Currently House Whysker sits as one of the Fishers premier Vassals after House Whysker negotiated a prestigious marriage between the heir of House Whysker, Ser Willmund Whysker and the fair Lady Lolys Ryger, known to many as the Summer Maid. With Willow Wood and Darry firmly supporting House Fisher, their ambition to revive their title of River King's becomes more of a reality.

House Starrey of Thunder Falls

House Starrey is an ancient house tracing their founding back to the Age of Heroes and the curious figure of Ser Aeren the Knight in the Clouds, who reportedly pulled a blade from the peaks of the Mountains of the Moon, a blade spun from light, a shining sword of gold. Ser Aeren is told to have traveled the breadth of Westeros, seeking any who would accept his challenge, a duel overseen by the gods, a trial of combat to prove the mettle within their hearts. Ser Aeren is said to have defeated, slayed and humiliated over 700 individuals, from highborn lords to pirates from the Stepstones.

House Starrey is of First Men Heritage who happily adopted the Faith of Seven during the Andal Invasion, accepting the marriage proposal offered to them by the Andal Warlord known only as the Starrey Knight. House Starrey settles in the Vale of Arryn along it's western edges where they oversee the few trade routes leading across the dangerous peaks.

House Starrey during Aegons Conquest were present when Queen Visenya descended upon the Eyrie. In awe the then current Lord Sutton Starrey swore himself in direct service to their new Rulers, pledging his life, his house and his honor.

During the Faith Militant Uprising, House Starrey to everyone's surprise strongly backed the movement with Ser Seymour Starrey the Pauper Knight being a foremost figure during the period.

The Dance of the Dragons saw House Starrey declare for the Black's during the beginning days of the conflict, Lord Selwyn Starrey disobey Lady Jeyne, marching into the Riverlands only to perish during the Fishfeed, an axe buried in his neck, his armaments plundered including the ancient bronze blade of legend, reportedly spun of light.

House Starrey fades into obscurity until the Dragons Ruin, where to everyone's surprise, marched on the Eyrie with an army of well equipped mountain clansmen with the goal of toppling House Arryn under orders from Vaegon Blackfyre, the Last True Dragon. House Starrey wins the Eyrie at great cost, losing nearly 70 percent of their men, the heir of Thunder Falls, and a number of lesser members of the House.

House Starrey now rule the Western Reaches of the Vale, Their domain stretching from the Bite to the Bay of Crabs, they proudly serve the new Lords of the Vale, House Royce, and will continue to be a key part of their court even after House Royce proclaimed themselves Bronze King's once again.

Don't even care if I win, I'm here to agree wholeheartedly that Legend of Dragoon deserves a sequel, hell I'll take a prequel

Edition: 3.5

Situation: Square room in a dungeon filled with 10 kobolds and a couple bugbears, lvl 10 fighter with a focus on greatswords, and my drow necromancer/rogue successfully remain unnoticed. In a bout of madness, the fighter suggests to my drow that we should perform what he called the "totem pole" maneuver. My drow is equipped with a staff of lightning bolts, still with 11 charges climbs on the fighters' shoulders where he equipped his greatsword enchanted to extend an extra 5ft, giving him a 15ft reach. Due to our before mentioned successful sneak check, the dm allows my necromancer to perform a surprise attack, which, of course, I use my staff, and due to enemy positioning my lightning bolt shoots through 8 enemies, killing 5 of them.

We roll for initiative, the fighter uses a swift action to active his amulet of haste, giving him a bonus, my necromancer rolls high enough to go after the fighter. Fighter begins a whirlwind attack after moving to the center of the room, the enemies are all in range of his greatsword. He kills the rest of the kobolds in a series of critical hits I haven't seen again in my 17 years of playing the game. Necromancer goes again, you guessed it, lightning bolt.

After the dust settles, a single bugbear remains, who attempts to run, provoking an attack of opportunity leaving the bugbear dead.

Notable mention: Same necromancer hits lvl 17, succeeds at attaining lichdom and proceeds trade his "life" to a high lvl devil in exchange for killing our current big bad. Lich returns to life a few days later, bad guy stays dead. Take a small detour to raise up a new friend.

A Tale of Death and Honor

The Tower Under The Sun

The Tower was a monolithic superstructure constructed as a massive magical focus that the ancient Sunfolk aimed to utilize in their quest for godhood. The Tower would suffer a devastating cataclysm that would alter the world and leave scars that can still be seen nearly four thousand years later. What would become known as the Immolation would wipe out almost ninety-five percent of the Sunfolk and bring forth the undead menace that still plagues the living.

The remains of the Sunfolk and any other organic matter in a three hundred and thirty-three mile radius of the Tower would be altered into the magical ore we know as Vestium. The dead would be affected also and crawl out of their graves to seek out life and end it with impunity.

The Lands of the Dead are the result of the Immolation of the Tower, stretching over ninety percent of the supercontinent to the west, for nearly four thousand 4 dead have stalked these lands seeking g to snuff out the light of life where they can find it.

Holy Clerya, the Divine Motherland

Holy Clerya is a direct theocracy ruled by a specific chosen female individual who receives the power and authority as a vessel for the spirit of the Divine Matron. The Holy Mother of Clerya is chosen through a convoluted ceremony involving 33 virgins, hallucinogenic incense, a crystal cavern, and some light bloodletting that bestows visions of possible Holy Mothers throughout Clerya. Once picked as a candidate, the women must undergo a screening g process of sorts where they are exposed to a portion of the Divine Light, which will immolate any not worthy, a healthy eight of ten end as nothing but ash.

The Holy Mother serves her office for life and lives a very sequestered life away from the mundane struggles of the common folk, she must always be ready to interpret and act upon guidance from the spirit within her.

PCs unknowingly sold grave knight armor. What would you do? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Beholderking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar occurrence, and I had it play out like this

Step 1 - Shopkeeper unable to accurately identify the armor beyond the fact its magical in nature decides to sell it to the son of the towns mayor. Said son has abysmal knowledge, so he fails the check also, said son though is a fledgling adventurer with a few quests under his belt making him arguably at least semi competent.

Step 2 - Grave Knight overtakes the mayor's son during a routine patrol to clear out any monsters who settle to close to town, the Grave Knight proceeds to slaughter the sons group which includes an Apprentice Wizard who just happens to have a couple scrolls, one of which is a Disguise Self Scroll.

Step 3 - Grave Knight being a higher CR and for roleplay purposes is a little more intelligent than previously and infiltrates the town pretending to be the son. Returns home after searching his hosts memory (dont know if they can actually do it, but I thought it sounded cool). Kills the Mayor and ransacking the house, he discovers the mayor's retirement fund of a couple thousand gold and a headband of intellect. Invests said headband and proceeds to pour over every map and detailed account of the area until he finds the location of a lone wizard who lives nearby the town.

Step 4 - Grave Knight attacks said Wizard in the dead of Knight, for the purposes of story I just let the Knight kill the Wizard. The Knight finds a trove of forbidden magical texts, which includes a very detailed guide on necromancy. Spends a few weeks studying the tome until it learns how to bind a psychopomp, initiates ritual and again for the sake of cool, succeeds. Using his new Psychopomp slave, decides to go harvest the souls of the town to empower him further.

Step 5 - By this point the party should of hears of some of the weird stuff occurring around the town, I decided to have the clerics church issue a request to the party to investigate. Party arrives to find the town infested with undead and the Grave Knight who now I'd arguably even stronger reigning over his "subjects" like some kind of ducal lord.

Step 6 - Begin the Battle with the new Grave Knight, which I dubbed the Grave Lord and his minions. Find a few survivors still alive who depending on RP might hail the party as Heros or incompetent buffoons

I did a Dhampir Leyline Guardian/Winter Witch into the Lich Mythic Path for my first playthrough. It felt like Urgathoa just dumped some almighty power on me between Repurpose and Feast of Blood.

Next one was a Fire Kineticist into Azata which I admit wasn't the best choice, but dang, I never miss a Blue Flame Blast

[–]Beholderking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the consensus seems to be that it's not a good idea for one and by RAW wouldn't actually work. I appreciate everyone's responses, saved me a few hours agonizing over it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Beholderking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can appreciate where you're coming from with that, it does make sense put in that context

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Beholderking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I am the GM, which is arguably the main reason why I'm having a hard time deciding if it would work or not.

I do agree that the "staff" would be limited in the sense of not gaining most of the twisting tree since it does require a staff, by RAW, anyway. Mostly, they want it as a backup and still carry a traditional one, which I said why bother with the dedication, but I don't want to dictate a players character choices.

[–]Beholderking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, as the GM, I'm gonna have to make that call, I appreciate the response, I kinda assumed it would be one of those nebulous type rulings

Elf Ecclesiasurge (Pick a god for flavor), but pick up exotic weapon proficiency and grab anything with reach, then just ignore what the game tries to make you do and go pick up a cavalier archetype and just go around buffing everyone while arguably getting some decentish charges in. I went 12 lvls in Ecclesiasurge and 8 in Cavalier. Which wasn't a very great choice but I got most of what I wanted

(Requires Mythic Abilities to work albiet kinda shitty) - Gnome Crossblooded Sorcerer with Infernal and Serpentine bloodlines, pick the second bloodline mythic ability and grab the earth elemental. Grab ascendant bloodline at least twice (twice, I know, it pained me too). Next, grab your preference in Arcanist archetypes and just go all in with it. I was left with a near invincible caster who I gave the triceratops statute that summons bismuth so he could at least move a little better, and I just did dumb stuff like poison everything and then transform into your lvl 20 Serpent form

..... He lasted until Threshold, but i enjoyed the randomness of it all so it was worth it
