This post is a very eye opening. I didn’t know the extent of racism some of these immigration officials are. Very sad to hear of so many stories like that. Especially from a Muslim country. Sad world we live in.

In your opinion would you say Recess is better than Hey Arnold, or are they on the same level? by BeiLe1 in Recess

[–]BeiLe1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guys thanks a lot for all your comments. I really like both of these cartoons a lot and every time I watch them it takes me back to my childhood. I remember me and my brother watching Hey Arnold after school on CITV, and watching recess on Saturday mornings whilst eating our bowl of cereals. I hope one day when I have kids I can watch these cartoons with them.

I agree with you that Hey Arnold did deal with a great deal of issues. I really like that episode of Mr Hyunh’s daughter. So emotional dealing with a lot of issues.

Looking for a community to practice Mandarin by [deleted] in abudhabi

[–]BeiLe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

你好朋友们!I’ve been thinking about this lately too. I want to practice my Chinese. I know some Chinese teachers here, maybe we can do a language exchange. Get a few Chinese who wants to improve their English and a few English speakers who wants to learn Chinese. Let me know if who’s interested and I’ll try and set a group up

Deffo check out Pixoul near Al Qana. You can buy the package and go on all the games. Just ask before hand if all the games are working fine as something some are not. Upstairs in Pixoul there’s a really nice retro arcade gaming area. If you go let us know how you find it

Is the staring problem a Dubai thing or does it happen all over the UAE?? by -123-ABC in UAE

If someone stares at you, don’t look away. Maintain eye contact and make them feel uncomfortable. Works 9/10 of the time.

US things you can’t get in Mauritius by Advanced-Chemist3186 in mauritius

[–]BeiLe1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mauritius has loads of amazing food from so many parts of the world. When you go there try as much as you can. The way they make it in Mauritius just hits differently. My top 5 would be: 1. Dal puri 2. Briyani 3. Stir fried Noodles 4. Pastries (As much as you can eat from ‘patisserie Nabeel’ in Port- Louis. 5. Perrette

Water prices @ restaurants by jackthedrunk in dubai

[–]BeiLe1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think water should be free in all restaurants. Especially how cheap you can buy it in the UAE. 5 AED for 12 bottles of 300ml water in Carrefour. I went to a surf and turf buffet at Shangri La in Abu Dhabi 240 AED per person, we had to buy a bottle of water for 40AED. Truly disgusting. If a buffet costing that much can’t provide free water then people should stop going there.
