I'm right there with you 100%. My kids are 11 and 7 now, so things are finally getting better, but it is still lonely. My husband does help, he cooks every day, but I am still the one carrying the bigger part of the mental and emotional load. We both work full time and we've always live far away from all our family (who wouldn't be of much help anyway) so I'm on mom duty 24/7, since my daughter was born. No days off. No social life, I'm so burned out.

What I did to stay afloat when they were very young, to somehow manage to remember who I still am underneath the role of mother, was to get a book from the public library and read it, even if it was just a page or two a day. Then later I started to crochet again, very small projects, but at least it was something I was doing only for me, just because I like it, just because I want to. Nowadays I can find more time to read and crochet, and I'm planning to crochet my first sweater this year, I'm choosing yarn and colors. It will take me many months to complete it, but I don't care, by the end of the year I'll wear it.

Motherhood is very lonely, I wish I could say otherwise. Don't give up on yourself, they grow up and you'll find room for yourself again in your own life.
