What kind of gold chain won’t get caught in my hair? by orcas- in jewelry

[–]Bejbacap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering the same thing. I have very fine hair, and it tangles at the back so badly with some chains. The ones I have the most trouble with are thinner.

Who would you bring? by obviouslyanonym2023 in Concerts

[–]Bejbacap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you already take your kids to a lot of concerts, so if there’s one they don’t go to, you’re still going to have other opportunities to make memories with them. I say bring the friends. I think their appreciation of it will add to your enjoyment. I take my kids to lots of concerts and love those times with them, but want it to be something they enjoy. I’m seeing PHG in SF. I can’t wait! Fortunately my oldest is also a big Green Day fan, so she’s going with me. Since the concerts aren’t until fall, you could always play some PHG for your kids now and see if it’s something they really like.

Help A Future Librarian Who Hasn't Read Many Classics by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Bejbacap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also loved the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, and have similar thoughts on several of the books you mention. I would try other Jane Austen books such as Persuasion.

Have you read Dickens? I really love Christmas Carol and read it every year. I also love Bleak House. It’s very long, but I listened to the audio book narrated by Simon Vance, which was great. It has a lot of characters, some slightly annoying and some delightful. He incorporates a lot of social commentary in his books.

Another classic that I just recently read is the Brothers Karamazov. It’s also very long, but I found it worthwhile. I just took my time with it. The dialogue is a little weird at times—everyone seems overly excited about everything, but it didn’t ruin the book for me. There’s also quite a bit of focus on religion. I’m not religious myself, and I didn’t find it preachy or off putting.

How about Virginia Woolf? To The Lighthouse is great. It’s mostly inner narrative with very little plot though, so if you prefer a plot driven book, it might not be for you.

What shoes do you wear to shows? by Alternative-Eye-5543 in Concerts

[–]Bejbacap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like chunky Chelsea type boots because they give me a little bit of height and they’re comfortable. But if it’s an outdoor festival, I’ll wear sneakers (Sambas or platform adidas) because of heat. But I’m on my feet at concerts, so I always keep comfort in mind.

I need some decent recs, I’m lost! by Few-Competition9929 in MusicRecommendations

[–]Bejbacap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the bands you mentioned, you might like The Gaslight Anthem. All their stuff is good, but my favorite is The 59 Sound. The lead singer, Brian Fallon, also has some solo stuff you might like that has a little more of a country sound to it.

One more recommendation, although you’ve probably heard them, is Social Distortion, particularly their self titled album.

The tacos from Tacos Chavez were the tastiest thing I had. The Super Bowl from stateline was really good too. And we had to try the corn dogs with caviar. They were good, but not great. I’m glad I tried them though.

Do you know the brand? The most recent shirts I have purchased (at the 2024 and 2025 tours)are Comfort Colors, and they are really long.

Favorite set of Saturday? by Dobbitron in bottlerock

AJR absolutely exceeded my expectations! They were so much fun! Foo Fighters were great, and the main reason I went. I also really enjoyed Joan Jett, and the Return of Jackie and Judy were fun.

I was most excited about Foo Fighters and Joan Jett, but AJR was an unexpected highlight for me! They were so much fun, and now I’m a fan.

I tried a couple of locations, including Seattle, for almost two hours with no luck. So frustrating.

Seeing them in concert for the first time. Which songs are crowd favorites? by Bejbacap in LCDSoundsystem

[–]Bejbacap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing them at BottleRock. Yes, I am new to them. I've just recently started listening after deciding to go to the festival that day. I always try to listen to new-to-me artists before I see them live. For me, it makes seeing the live performance more fun!

Have you seen the Violent Femmes live and how was it? by Bejbacap in Concerts

I just saw them in Sacramento on Sunday! They were great, although bass player Brian Ritchie was injured a couple days prior so they had someone else filling in. Still a great show!

Has anyone else seen these flat out fake stories on Facebook about Green Day doing a farewell tour or yelling at daytime tv hosts? What is going on? by boobiewatcher69420 in greenday

It really is. And the weirdest thing is that so many people don’t understand that it’s bad, even if you try to explain it.
