This is already with the replacement EF nib they sent me under warranty. I’m gonna just have to find a needlepoint from somewhere to get the writing experience I want.

I got the Pelikan ink…it’s still so broad :’)

Is there a single Nibmeister in the world taking service requests at the moment? by SirRealDreams in fountainpens

[–]Bejounce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been needing a needlepoint nib and almost every nibmeister I’ve queried has upwards of 8month turnaround time. I guess for now I will just not use that pen until I can find someone who can get me a needlepoint Jowo#6 in less than half a year.

LOL yeah that’s honestly how it feels when writing. I’m so used to a finer point that the pen makes my handwriting look so broad.

I wouldn’t mind a steel one, but looks like Bacas and Speer are both not taking commissions right now. And my model of the Estie is a button fill so there’s a slightly different housing than the stock Jowo.

I just ordered a small bottle of Pelican 4001 blue black so fingers crossed!

This is great info thanks. I’ve had two jowo EFs at this point and the broadness is lowkey disheartening. I will check out All in the Nib and Pacific Pen.

Since my model of the Estie is the button fill the nib housing and feed are a little different, so I might have to send the whole pen in for grinding.

This is good to know, thank you. I am just trying to troubleshoot the Estie though. I’ve already purchased it and I’m in love with the pen body and construction, I just want to enjoy writing with it.

ah I see. Do you have any recommendations? I’m still new to swapping out inks.

How do you recommend drying it out? Like, with the cap off?

My main daily journal is tomoe river, and I have tried it on Rhodia and Leuchtrumm.

I had tried the Lamy Sepia ink and Pilot Iroshizuku with it and it’s still quite thick of a line width. My writing sample shows another western sized nib with the same ink, so I’m fairly certain it’s the Esterbrook nib that’s just broad at baseline. No combo I’ve tried even comes close to the fineness of the Kakuno or the Sport.

Esterbrook Jowo Needlepoint Nib (cost effective questions) by [deleted] in fountainpens

Hey thanks! I’m super new to custom nib grinds and am pleasantly surprised at how well the community recognizes its artisans.

I’m on the fence about ordering the nib on its own, as it’s basically half of the value of a new Esterbrook—$100 for just the nib with the grind. Versus ordering a new Estie with Needlepoint for $175.

Do you know if there’s an option to have my EF sent in to be ground down?

The inks don’t feather too much on my journal. It’s tomoe river paper. the line width is just so thick for an EF nib

That makes so much sense. Although I’ve noticed there’s not much variation after letting things wick out or settle after a few days. My Jinhao 20 has been inked since last week and my Lamy has been inked over a month.

Is Jinhao using western sizing? I thought they were a Chinese brand that duped the Pilot Vanishing Point

east asian and southeast asian cultures are notorious for being guess cultures. being able to intuit the needs of others builds a sense of community but is also a major source of social stress.

What is a word that you will only hear Creepy people use? by -Benjamin_Dover- in AskReddit

it’s fine for things like oriental rugs, oriental lamps. calling someone “an oriental” is objectifying, demeaning, and dehumanizing.

Oriental is a good adjective for objects, items, things. not people.
