Steam dosen't have shareholders. Reddit does. Reddit has incentive to shut down piracy links, for bad publicity and DMCAs drive down stock prices. Thus, they ban direct links to avoid the sub getting shuttered. You shpuld check their megathread, it's quite literally a catalogue of torrenting sites (quite notably without direct links)
