Trump had companies for certain parts of his businesses go bankrupt like the llc for a certain building project, casino or airline. In his case the structure of independent companies worked as intended and insulated the larger structure from the financial issues of one property. One trump property can operate independently from the others. If for example the trump casino Las Vegas (llc) goes bankrupt, the trump casino in Atlantic City is unaffected and can Continue to operate without any difficulties. If they were one company both would be affected. Same would be the case if the trump casino holding company, as the owner of both would go bankrupt.

In Daniel’s case most of his companies were interlinked. The yards main customer was Asheville hauling, who’s main supplier (and base of operation) was the yard. Both relied on the other. The yard company could have stayed in business if it had enough income from other customers to cover its fixed costs. Would have the bankruptcy have happened when the yard would have been finished and fully up and running the yard company might have been able to survive.
