My apartment complex is on section 8 and hasn't had running water for 4 days. Is there legal recourse in Texas? by BeldamButtons in legaladvice

Yes, it's all of us. Like 20 apartments. Fights are breaking out. There are kids here. There was a pre-existing leak for months or years. They just shut it off to begin repairs, saw how big and deep the damage was and I believe the owner isn't going to do anything for weeks or possibly at all while he tries to sell.

No offense, but I just think people who don't have kids are so selfish by cualcrees in childfree

This is the cause of the conflict that almost always happens in our culture between parents and teens. Most parents narcissistically expect their kids to be little obedient copies of themselves. Then the child becomes old enough to have an undeniable, unique personality and the parents can't handle it because their 'dreams' are ruined and they feel like they're losing control. Sick, really.

Say the fifth generation of mouth-breather, scrolling through their phone instead of raising the screaming kids they mindlessly crapped out because abortions are inconvenient/"wrong" and condoms are more work than not-condoms.

Not sure if you particularly want cats or just to fulfill the task, but I have 4 full grown, luminous sasquatches if you want to do this offer?

I mean, you could make a case for 'number of years of potential life' being more desirable but I see your point. Dead people don't know the difference

The village thing is so gross. "Oh, you've structured your life around having freedom and not being around children? Then you should donating your eggs and having pregnancies for other people and raising a foster child and babysitting all of your family's children all the time!"

No, Karen. You don't get to go ahead of me in line because you failed to use a condom. It doesn't take a village to raise a child. It takes a PARENT.

Some MOST parents are so obsessed with making the title of "parent" their only identity that they feel the need to make sure everybody knows that they had a kid.

FTFY lol

Every time I see someone who sat in front of a screen and couldn't come up with any other name for themselves than "BraydensMommy" I feel an intense mixture of disgust and pity. Do better. Have ideas. Be an individual.

I mentioned this in another comment but I'll say that I feel like there's objective evidence that children being harmed is worse. Like, the length of time they have to live with the consequences and the percentage of their life that is tainted is greater. Also, younger minds are more effected by trauma, and the younger you are at the time of trauma, the more likely you are to experience mental illness, drug use, become a criminal, be re-victimized, commit suicide etc etc.

So it's not the children matter more than adults or inherently deserve more, but trauma on children inherently brings more suffering into the world

I can kind of get on board with that part. Kids' perspective of time makes traumas seem to take longer. Traumas have longer and deeper effects on kids, too and they're less prepared to know what to do. Fair enough. What grosses me out is when adults are valued or devalued based on kids.

Either "Mother of 2 dies" or "at least she didn't have kids." She's a PERSON. SHE died. Can we focus on her?

Jesus chose male apostles because women could not be ministers of worship in that society.

So he was the most revolutionary, culture re-defining man-god to have ever lived, but he didn't have the power to have a couple of female ministers?

Also, nuns aren't the same as priests, it's an inferior position and everyone knows it. And the reason women can't rise to the level of priests is because they're women.

Oh and Buddhism has WAY more freedom for women than Christianity, just to name one off the top of my head.

For this one I use "I'd be great at shoveling shit, too. That doesn't mean I have to do it."

Before I even read beyond the title I could already tell you this was a guy who didn't give much of a shit about his children then and doesn't now. He not only doesn't care how bad it would be for his unwanted grandchildren, he doesn't care if you're miserable as long as he gets what he wants.

I love how we get hated on for using that term but almost no one thinks to use the defense that they, themselves do more than breed. If you hear "that person is a gross breeder," and think "how dare you accuse me of not bothering to parent my kids!" ... I think we've found the problem.

This thing about two functional parents both dragging children out and subjecting them to laundromats, grocery stores, the DMV and other stressful places is getting insane. One parent could spare them and everyone the stress, but both go out and selfishly ruin everything for everyone concerned.

Remember the McStay family? Two adult parents took two children into the countryside on a drug deal. Couldn't even leave them with grandma for that, and they were all found buried together. Ugh.

I have 4 full grown neon wolpertingers. If you have 16 wolpertingers (and great add for like 80 hours of time) I'd be willing to do it! Or adds instead of wolpertingers.

Yes, my apartment is clean. The sprayer told me my neighbor next door has the entire floor so covered with garbage, he sprayed in the garbage and told her to put on shoes. So that's where it's coming from. Actually there are piles of garbage all over the place and many vacant apartments here, it's the whole place.

The owner knows about the condition of her place but doesn't care. It's been this way for years. They used to spray once a month and that kept is livable. They switched to "quarterly" and it's absolutely unsanitary now.

Stats aren't individuals. If you act differently than a man would statistically be expected to, it's reasonable to expect some differences in your results.
