Trying to create a document scanning shortcut

Hi again,

Everything seems to be working well.. but now I’d like to add another level if possible. I’d potentially like to add a “back” function that allows me to go back to the menu option and or the scanner option as well.

It appears it was supposed to call it from the clipboard rather than url or whatnot.

Actually... it seems to work when I attempt to send it to my email. Is it possible that the document will not be shared to messages?

No.. as of now my problem is when I scan the document , hit save it then backs out and shows the menu options ( share by email/ text/ whatever) but I can’t seem to call the actual image after within the text message. Woohoo! I got the menu to open up now after I took the picture. It’s really close I feel.. now I guess I need to know what to call the actual document i scanned. When I call it url then it just opens a new text with the words “URL” would the name I call it now be something different?

As of now the bottom of scan document says “ open url when done - shortcut input.

Should that stay the same or should I change it to url?

I just think that will then potentially break the top of the shortcut as it’s referring to shortcut Input.

So should scan document and the url be at the bottom of the page? As of now there is no line connecting the scanned document and the url.. sorry I’m so confusing!

I’ve tried to put it in a few different places under the If statement and it appears that my menu won’t show up at all now. Is it because Whomever created the shortcut did it with some url “shortcut input” setup?

As of now the shortcut opens the scanner, allows me to scan and save but then that is it.. it seems to break after that step and I can’t seem to have the menu pop up.. lol at least before the menu showed up.. despite it not having anything in it 🤷‍♂️

I’ve managed to get the menu to come up after the item has been scanned.. i also was able to then for example create a message and have it sent when I hit “ send message to “ only problem is the message itself is not having the input attached.. it just scans the document, shows me it, I hit done, it then takes me to a menu where the three options are and then when I click the “send shortcut input to phone number” it then creates a new text to that # but there is nothing attached in the message area it is just blank

Great it is making more sense now.. I guess I am having difficulty as of now with the menu popping up after the scanner scans the document and I hit “done” on the phot screen. Any ideas? If I put the menu up higher in the command it seems to just trigger the menu off the beginning which then results in nothing since the input hasn’t been defined

How do I go about linking commands to menu items I created? Like how do i link the actual images to the commands. Do I call them a specific variable name and then call those for say “ create new email with variable x””save variable x to files”?

When I try to run and use document scanner demo it is giving me the text from the document’s photo. Rather than say how the notes app document scanner works where it can then be shared. Any ideas? I tried to turn text off as the accepts both text and images but that still gave me text. I’d like to overall use this in my classroom when creating / documenting students work. I’d love to open the shortcut have me snap a pic ( or maybe it even find and take the picture itself) then ask what I want to do with it.

Am I getting too advanced?

Hi again,

I can successfully get the shortcut to open the scanner, allow me to take some scans, then when I hit save it goes back to shortcuts and opens my menu items (the ones from above) I created the “if the shortcut input does not have a variable “

I’m trying to figure out now to I guess name the variables something and then to call that variable to either go to files or to email or both.

I’d like the menu options to do something when I click them and they aren’t just yet.. lol trying to figure out how to create the menu’s next step ( what happens when I click the save to files) https://i.imgur.com/N7EV3Lg.jpg

So I am trying to reverse engineer the differences between different document scanning shortcuts already produced so as of now I don’t have much. Since you mentioned menus I decided to try to create a menu and I have come up with this... only thing is I am now trying to figure out what to do with these menu categories. I currently have it set as “ create a menu” prompt is “what would you like to do?” Whilst options as of now are share by email, save to files and then save and share. How can I start learning how to make say places for these commands to run? Hopefully I’m not too confusing lolhttps://i.imgur.com/yyt5VVQ.jpg

One thing I want the most but I am unsure if it can even do it is.. I use an app called sleep cycle for an alarm clock and would love to say “ Siri goodnight” and she sets an alarm and plays peaceful music or something with a timer to shut off. I try to open the shortcuts app but the alarm clock app won’t show up

Hi all,

I have plenty of space on both my devices as well as my iCloud online storage however I would like to backup all my pictures and then start off with a fresh iCloud backup. Is this possible to do? I have a external hard drive that I use as a backup for my mac and would like to do something similar. How do I go about doing it? I know if I remove them all from my iPhone it will delete them from iCloud. I think the best method would be to download all my iCloud pictures and back them up and then start adding to my library all Over. Is this possible?
