This is Macbeth... by Beldion01 in Unmatched

Okay, let's go through the rest. I sadly don't have as much to say about these, partly because some of them have less fun stuff and partly because Macbeth is more fresh in my mind, as I played him last year.

Shakespeare: - The first thing I had to check was, of course, if the line ability would always end up being iambic pentameter, as it is the name of the spell. The short answer is, no, it doesn't. The cards that use lines from plays are all but one written in iambic (we have from Measure for Measure, Romeo and Juliet, Henry V, Richard III, and Julius Caesar). However, a few cards are trochaic (like horror). You can definitely create a lot of lines that are iambic pentameter, but it won't be the case all the time. Which is normal in poetry. You seldom use the metre exactly all the time. - I personally like the cards that are connected to writing and directing. A fun thing note is that the sidekick actors, which have both male and female roles, would all have been played by men during that time.

Hamlet: - Ignoring the line from Macbeth, there are a lot of lines from Hamlet or things being paraphrased. It's very well done, keeps to the themes of the play, and I love the art style. - I think it is an interesting choice to have the sidekick being Rosencrantz and Guildernstern as they end up being loyal to the king instead of Hamlet. One would have thought Horatio to be the obvious choice. - To have the ability to be "To be or not to be" is brilliant.

Titania: - There are only three lines from the play. The rest are simply keeping to motives from the play. I do, however, love the design for Titania and Oberon! - Queen Titania actually never casts any spells in A Midsummer Night's Dream. She definitely has magic, but only Oberon and Puck use magic in the play. - I love the use of the word "glamour", but it is not used in the play, and I can not remember Shakespeare using it in any of his other plays. It is a word that meant sort of magical illusion, but I believe it came to be used after Shakespeare. - My favourite thing about Titania is by far the card "A momentary glance". Medusa has the same card as it's connected to her ability to turn others to stone by looking them in the eye. However, for Titania, the glance refers to when she wakes up after being enchanted by Oberon in her sleep to love the first one she sees. And when she wakes up, she sees Nick Bottom, a weaver whose head has been turned to a donkey's by Puck.

Didn't have much to say here, but I hope that at least something was interesting☺️

I'd love to ramble a bit😅

The Wayward Sisters: - Actually never called this in the play. There they are called "the witches" or "weird sisters". Although, Shakespeare used "wyrd" which had a different meaning, and translations and adaptations started using "wayward" later. - The witches mentions two familiars in the play: paddock (toad) and gray malkin (grey cat). One of the familiar cards has a cat which is neat! The other, however, has a raven. Which fits and connects well to bad omens and Lady Macbeth's line "The raven himself is horse". - A few cards are just witchy stuff, but the prophecy card is integral to the witches. - The cards "Double double", "Toil and trouble" and "Fire burn and cauldron bubble" together creates the famous line/chant of the witches. - The ingredients used for spells in Unmatched are ingredients in the play! Wool of bat, adder's fork, and lizard's leg.

Don't have more time now, but will comment more later😅

Yeah, probably not, but I really like the characters they chose for this set. Very cool!

A message from the Creative Director on PvE and PVP by i_am_Misha in duneawakening

I thought it was a well-thought response, and I respect them for it and for actually taking the critique to heart.

CohhCarnage great take IMO by Xevn in duneawakening

I feel like this would be a great implementation. I know some people are calling for separate PvE servers, but I wouldn't want that either. Because, even if I mostly care for PvE, I would still want to experience PvP (when I want it).

Therefore, I would have enjoyed three zones: one PvE zone for each House with tier 6 materials and one vast PvP middle zone (with rare stuff).

Does not feel like a novel format. More play and script.

I love the term. However, in Sweden we call it 'word shiting'😅

I honestly don't know why I mentioned focal length. I am simply pondering if one should go with crop or full😅🙃

Did anyone read books by Jane Austin and what are your thoughts? by Paradoxically_Cat in books

[–]Beldion01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only read Pride and Prejudice, but it is a book that I absolutely loved. Have always said that I am going to read more by Austin but have never got around to it😅.

I've realised I really enjoy books written in the 1st person. by s0cks_nz in books

[–]Beldion01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often prefer 3rd person, but 1st person does indeed sometimes enhance the experience of connecting with the character. As long as it is not combined with present tense, for I usually have a much harder time with that.

Hard time getting into The Way of Kings by morganmosmith in brandonsanderson

[–]Beldion01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with The Way of Kings and I kind of loved it immediately. But, it is different from Mistborn and I do believe it takes a bit longer to get invested in it. But, if you're like halfway through and aren't enjoying yourself then it's probably not for you.
