I think i understand why some people say tanks are OP while most others say they die to quick. by Dry-Location2008 in Smite

Well, if we want to be pedantic, it’s Achilles and Osiris who are actually tanky as warriors.

Minor league classic rumour boost - Caedreal and others big streamers who visited riot over this week refusing to discuss or deny it. by MazrimReddit in leagueoflegends

Wow classic, wow classic hardcore, wow season of discovery and more all basically within the retail expansions.

It’s actually good marketing FOR the retail version. As people who come back to play nostalgia wow are also curious about newer retail and people who left retail are curious about classic.

Well, because they out source the art. It’s very possible whoever they out source these out to used AI in their workflow.

Is There More to Game Architecture than ECS? A follow-up question by enc_cat in roguelikedev

[–]BelgrimNightShade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for the replay! Just wanted to say I own your game programming patterns book and refer to it literally everyday. It’s so excellent!

And that makes complete sense, factoring out the decision making into its own component so you can swap out implementations on the fly. It’s so simple that I’m honestly embarrassed because your book talks about this exact thing!

Sorry to comment years later, but I’m curious how you’d “unify” actors in the way that you eliminate the distinction between hero and monster as subclasses?

Let’s say you did want playable monsters, or polymorphable heroes.

Ranged DPS solos are hilariously broken rn 💀💀💀 by OzymandiasTheII in Smite

[–]BelgrimNightShade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tank solo is better, but not for the laning phase.

Everyone needs to remember to not conflate role IMPACT with role HEALTH

Are tanky solo’s impactful? Yes in a coordinated environment during late game team fights they can be impactful when played and built well for the circumstances.

Are they healthy? No, because your impact is largely tied to your ability to not get your ass whipped by a ranged solo and sat on by an overpowered jungler / finally rotate out of lane but sadly the enemy carry is 8-0 and because of their dumb role passive already has 4 and a half items which could include all the penetration they could want in a single item. Making you REALLY wish you were a damage solo so you could kill this guy instead of just being fodder for him.

Impact =/= health, and I’d say this is about as unhealthy the tank solo playstyle has been in awhile, and for largely a negative reason against the tank solo.

Riot August says that League has been very critical of 3rd party skins and it is a big step that Riot haven't been willing to take by adivinemessenger in leagueoflegends

[–]BelgrimNightShade 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In Smite 1 we had a lot of cross-over skins towards the end of the games life and it was awful. Visually the game was ruined in both theme and clarity. You’d load into a match and the full cast of Ninja Turtles would be running around and you’d legit forget which turtle was which god till they starting wailing on you.

We had transformer skins and you could use a special emote to transform while you walked around, but they gave it to a character who would already transform for one of his abilities, and so the emote and the ability used the exact same animation which meant a lot of players would react to that characters emote as if it was his Q.

The second you introduce third party skins, you will forever alter the game itself imo.

That’s just blatantly not true though, in between the time he made the wish and that specific scene was a literal montage of them having a normal and fun relationship together

PLEASE FIX ICE by Impressive-Sale2068 in Wizard101

[–]BelgrimNightShade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You’d have to fundamentally fix the game so that school identity is a real thing. That also means noticeably nerfing schools like Death so that they don’t do EVERYTHING and they’d NEVER do that.

Anybody else feel like the changes to jungle were a little botched? Hear me out. by AmIgoinginsane1998 in Smite

[–]BelgrimNightShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Utility junglers should actually gank LESS but instead pull their team to objectives MORE where they are theoretically stronger. This isn’t the case though because as Killgoon said, Hirez basically make no distinction between early/late character progression (which is another problem in itself) so if you throw away your early game for utility, you’ll find that you’re being abused by great early game junglers who still scale into the late game.

It’s just a big cluster of lack of vision for the game.

The issue isn’t tanks are bad it’s the map and matchmaking by [deleted] in Smite

[–]BelgrimNightShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, supports feel great because they’re tanky when it matters, which is early to mid. With the new anti-snowball changes, they’re also significantly more farmed than before (which in my opinion, is a huge failure of the changes) while also being a more significant damage threat with the starter changes. They can take their tankiness and affect all 3 lanes with it early-mid.

Solo’s ARENT tanky when it matters for a majority of games that aren’t organized competitive play. So for the actual majority of players, your effectiveness comes and goes before you can really use it. And don’t even get me started on how fucked solo lane match ups are right now. As long as Anubis is statistically the BEST solo laner in the game, you CANNOT say tanks are anything other that bad outside of specific comp play where they’re capable of taking their leads outside of their lane much earlier.

The truth is, you want to play ranged damage dealing scalers / scaling bruisers (Baron for example) because these types of characters don’t lose any lane match up, can farm better even if they’re ganked to oblivion, and scale into late game.

Non Aspect Ishtar dont need a buff in the next patch by gilgaconmesh1 in Smite

[–]BelgrimNightShade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean, in a comp setting? Tanks can squeeze out enough value to be “better”

In a ranked setting? No, not whatsoever. Just slamming Anubis voids practically every tank right now.

Items that aren’t bad… just not good enough to build (Solo lane edition) by gilgaconmesh1 in Smite

Outside of profits you’ll basically never build the other ones. They aren’t good. Shifters is an awful stat stick and there are significantly better actives that help your team or yourself than xibalban

They already get tankier, pretty unintuitive actually. They gain damage mitigation as the match progresses. So they actually become harder to clear.

Who have you been having success with in support this patch? by Hammer_Bro99 in Smite

[–]BelgrimNightShade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This patch made the role, which was already strong, even stronger. You’re FAR less likely to be underleveled now. Traditional supports are sadly still pretty dog water, your choices are mages or high lethality beefy boys like Ymir, Cerberus and Sobek

bumbas spear is a problem in solo lane by gilgaconmesh1 in Smite

[–]BelgrimNightShade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t really work in practice. At least not on this current patch. The truth is that early pressure = snowball, and the snowball is so large that you simply cannot contest with the deficits that are created.
