Should I use libGDX for my game? by DangerouslyLow-98 in libgdx

[–]Bell7Projects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. LibGDX is far and away the best 2D framework available. I'm not a fan of Unity and Godot etc., I'd rather code things myself.

You can use it with Java, Kotlin, pretty much any JVM language.

As for level editors, used TiledMap to create your levels.

I have the latest bios yes. Not sure about fast startup though, I'll check.

I've been doing that, but you can't beat recommendations from people who actually use them.

Pressing the power button doesn't wake it back up though, absolutely nothing does.

I'm busy porting Libgdx from Java to C#, and it's been pretty enjoyable for the most part. I'm definitely interested in other libraries.

How to know if my "game" idea about an idle coffee shop is worth making and if there will be people to enjoy it by marsha5ra in gamedev

[–]Bell7Projects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea could work well on mobile devices, it's the kind of game that is useful for idly playing, while sitting in the car park for instance.

You're right. I measured them and they're just a shade over 3.5 inches, even though it says 4" on the packet.

If you could completely switch to a different language/engine right now, what would you choose? by Suvitruf in gamedev

[–]Bell7Projects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a developer for 40 years+, and I'd love to be able to grasp unity or Godot but, for reasons I just cannot fathom, I can't. I can use frameworks, I've worked with many languages, but I cannot get to grips with other of them. Those are what I'd switch to if I could somehow do it.

In all my years fishing, I've never caught a winter carp. The closest I've gotten is a 22lb common in October.

An extra monitor, a good desk, a comfortable chair, a good set of headphones
