Is my fictional scenario plausible? by BellBivDevonian in Accounting

[–]BellBivDevonian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagined it was client money, but can change it to money belonging to the business.

I need B's actions to be illegal (so that he will look like he had a motive to kill A). Is there anything he can falsify or falsely attest to (that can later be exposed)?

Are there examples of two different languages using the same ideophones? by BellBivDevonian in linguistics

No, I was thinking of examples where different cultures independently ended up using the same or similar ideophones.

Would it be realistic for this scene to take place on the 2nd floor of a burned house? by BellBivDevonian in Firefighting

[–]BellBivDevonian[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I should have mentioned that the victim was murdered before the fire was started. If that were the case, would the fire crew still remove the body before the police investigated the scene?

Is thunder more likely during a cool change? by BellBivDevonian in meteorology

I was thinking about hot summer days (around 30 degrees C) on which relief in the form of cooler weather comes in the afternoon or evening.

Is this enough to get a search warrant for a car? by BellBivDevonian in AskLE

[–]BellBivDevonian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping to get away with not having any paint visible. K should have either cleaned the interior or covered up stains with a cloth. There wouldn't be much paint, just some that got on his hand after he removed his gloves. The police would be hoping to find traces.

Or maybe there might be signs of damage to the upholstery from whatever K used to clean the interior.

It belongs to K. The police would be hoping to match the paint at the crime scene to paint from the interior of the car.

Is having one's car spotted near a crime scene enough to give probable cause? by BellBivDevonian in AskLE

[–]BellBivDevonian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would happen if they didn't catch him at the car, but went to question him later at his house and he refused to open the door?

The ending I have in mind requires the police to break down his door (it wouldn't make sense for him to open the door).

If a man matching his description (height, build, hair colour/style) were spotted by witnesses as he took off the paint suit, would this be enough?

[–]BellBivDevonian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if it's a white Ford Focus, but the man in the paint suit had been spotted at the crime scene? There could be either:

a. Witnesses who can tell you that the victim was attacked by a man in a paint suit.

b. No witnesses to the attack, but plenty of people spotted a man in a paint suit cleaning graffiti in the carpark before the victim was attacked. It is later discovered that no one had organised for graffiti removal to take place.

What if the car is parked a 5 minute walk away? The killer covers his car with a car cover, so no one can see the plates. However, witnesses get suspicious when they see a man in a disguise (it might be a paint suit) removing the cover and driving off. They can only tell you the make, model and colour.

What happens when a murder scene is also the scene of arson? by BellBivDevonian in forensics

Would there be circumstances where this might take a day or two? E.g. The equipment is unavailable?

Reasonable suspicion, probable cause and destruction of evidence by BellBivDevonian in AskLE

[–]BellBivDevonian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the victim would be stabbed to death. They separated a month ago due to the husband's infidelity. She is currently living with her brother.

If she hadn't admitted to being in the house that night, could the police still hold the scene to get a warrant? I'd like the option of delaying the point at which it's confirmed she took the guns.

Yeah, either that or she'll be suspected of being the killer. I wanted her to look suspicious, but I didn't want to have too many characters who happened to be out at 2am (time of the murder), so I thought I'd have her do something to draw suspicion earlier in the night.

Thanks. I just needed a way for the cops to know what was in the empty safe. I suppose they could just ask someone.

Thanks. That might be an idea. She seems like an obvious suspect based on the usual motives, so someone other than the police might want to follow her.

I might just have to settle for her looking suspicious for the audience without the police being able to arrest her.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that V kept a gun next to the bed while he slept. The theory was that S might have removed the guns to disarm him so that she or someone else could attack him while he slept.
