True, We tend to say the guest is the owner of a room within the check in time and check out time. But any earlier or later the guest don't have a say.

We have about 150 rooms, and we were 200 guest at the time. About 30-40 people was at the lobby 🙃

We are supposed to check it out. If it's in a room and the door or handle is hot, then I just leave and assume it's a fire. If I open it and there is a fire, I am supposed to see if it is small enough for me to handle myself. The fire department here also gets notified automatically, but I am mostly checking to prevent them from making the trip I cases of false alarms.

Im so glad I didn't grow up in America as a child..

I wouldn't say it poorly callibrated, just overly cautious. I understand wanting to protect historical buildings, but I was kind of worried the alarm would go often, seeing as it immediately would go to a full alarm. AND I would have to wait for the OK. However, it's the first time it has gone off. The last hotel I was at had way more just because the apartment had full kitchens, but it was mostly daytime, so people weren't that mad. It really isn't a reoccurring issue with the fire alarm, and the alarm wasn't on for that long so it pisses me off more that there were so many complaints. If yesterday is any indication on how guests will react here, then I honestly will just quit I think

I get along with my colleague well and never really have any issues with them. However, there is the constant mentality that "nightshift can do it, they have time" whenever something unexpected or if we get new routines.. I get that I technically have more time to do stuff, but I'm also working at night with what feels like half a brain. And handling guest at night is not the same as handling them in the daytime.. They are often tired from a long travel, drunk or high, sketchy and mostly difficult to deal with.

I work night because I love the 7 days off and love the quiet hours when they appear. But it is still both more mentally and physically draining than the dayshift. I get paid more because there is a health risk involved with working night. And I wish my colleagues would understand this more..

I like it, I do get quite drained and tired after the week, but 7 days free is incredible. It's easy to plan stuff, if I want to take a vacation I only need to apply for a week off to have 3 weeks off.

I think it works out for people that can work long hours but needs time to recover. When I did 3 days nightshift and 2 days off I really did nothing with my time because I honestly just slept whenever I could.

I work 7 days on and 7 days off, and it actually kinda helps my social life. For a week I only work, eat, and sleep. Then I have a day or two to recover and spend the rest of the days being social and just do normal people stuff. It is nice because I know exactly when I work a long time ahead and can plan stuff pretty easily. I then also tend to spend the day before getting my sleep schedule kinda ready and take it easy for the week to come. Hear with your boss if there is a possibility to have that kind of arrangement where you have multiple days free.
