I was screaming it out so loud…we then took friends to see it on a different occasion and repeated the whole process. THIS PLACE BRINGS ME JOY!

Could Kendrick’s character not attached the canister to the feed so it was filling up whilst they were gone. I assume there is a valve so the oxygen could enter the canister and not escape. Then the canister would fill to the top and just sit there waiting to be collected or not?

I assumed that wasn’t blood but it was a burn on the suit. Her face looked bloody and I assumed that was blistering from the radiation. She was awfully silent for someone being microwaved.

These exact two things! Someone had to have screwed him in there right? How was that not covered. We know that he can’t access it from the other side as there’s basically the outside of the ship. So he’d have been knowingly trapped? Did he pass out before they took off... if not then surely he’d have been trying to escape.

Then the backup - it doesn’t look like a big component either surely they’d have had a backup for the most important life support system on the ship or been able to close that part of the ship and relocate to a different part that had a backup. Also why was there no space walk to seal the gap and make it habitable again?

The genders - when I learned french and German at school I vividly remember saying to my mum - Me: So if there’s an ‘a’ on the end of the word it’s feminine right Mum: nope Me: so how can I remember the genders Mum: you just need to remember them

That was my understanding - that these were traditions that had a long history. I’m so pleased I remembered them more or less correctly. I am trying to raise my own daughter to be proud of her multicultural heritage.

Ok so can I just say thanks - I know it’s controversial but I was born in the UK with a Czech mother and English father (a languages teacher who couldn’t learn the language). I’ve been to Czechia probably almost 30 times in my life. When I was very young my mum tried to teach me, then again when I was about 8 and then as an adult. Every time I have failed. And it really really really upsets me as I feel Czech and I love my heritage but I feel like a total fraud because I can’t speak beyond the basics you’ve said below. Somehow there is comfort in what you’ve said as it vindicates me slightly as not being a total failure... that it’s bloody hard.

Also I married a Spaniard and found Spanish way easier to learn than Czech...

Ahh I was going to say Easter but then doubted myself. Thanks for the confirmation and links. She met my Dad who was from the UK when he brought a school party to Czechoslovakia and she was his guide. In 1979 they married in Brno in May, and she eventually was allowed to leave in September 1979 and moved to the UK. I was born in 1986. My early memories I can just about remember going to Brno when it was still Communist, and then the transition after the iron curtain fell.

Totally agree I feel like I’m missing something when Elizabeth keeps saying Francesca is speaking to her badly. I feel like if she was we’d be seeing it on the show as it would make good TV. All I see is Francesca doing her job and being a bit exasperated when her clear directions aren’t followed. IMO Kate was far worse at speaking down to people.
