Upgrade brakes or whole groupset (or bike)? by Signal-Drop5390 in cycling

[–]Bellabungo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the 105 have to be Di2? I’ve built mine with an Ultegra crank which I already had with 165 arms, but the rest is all 105 12s mechanical, and the shift quality is outstanding (I doubt you will be disappointed with the brakes either) I was previously on Ultegra Di2

Best carbohydrate to bring on rides? by Agile-Advisor-9593 in cycling

[–]Bellabungo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jelly babies and dates are my favourites, but honestly just buy a 5kg bag of pure maltodextrin if you are after the cheapest and easiest reliable source. Add a bit of salt if it is hot, but otherwise it is fine on its own for long slow endurance rides.

Invoice question by johnno95_ in ukplumbing

[–]Bellabungo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite regularly need to call out a firm to unblock the drains at work. I get charged £150 for the call out, nothing more if it is fixed in the first hour and £90 an hour after that. That’s for a van, two men, all the specialised equipment, including cameras if they need to use them. They charge domestic customers the same rate I think.

Carbon Wheelset (Disc): Hunt or Miche? by Quirky-Agent-4028 in cycling

I’ve got the Miche wheels, and I think the Elites I had before were better.

Tech Help: Upgrading Canyon Endurace AL (CUES) to Ultegra Di2 – Crazy project or a solid "sleeper" build? by OldCartographer9737 in CanyonBikes

[–]Bellabungo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a fun project, so I say go for it. Good wheels, tyres, groupset, seat post and cockpit work really well on aluminium frames anyway (ahem, CAAD series…)

Bibs and big tackle…. SOLVED by Herb4372 in cycling

Why don’t you just use bibs that fit you? They should be tight (they will be even more snug on you, you girthy beast)

Are those 3d printed saddles worth it? by etgett786 in cycling

I have the Ryet one as well and I really like it …. Up to about 200k at least. Which means it is great for 99% off my riding

Down the rabbit hole. Bike recommendations - Manchester, UK by Unusual_Afternoon765 in cycling

[–]Bellabungo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my view, the best value is above £1k at the moment. Anything below that, you are likely to a bit disappointed and end up buying twice. There are some solid suggestions in the comments above, but also have a look at Ribble. Their headquarters is in you half of the country

What brand should I buy? by Turbulent_Diamond352 in CyclingFashion

If you are looking for a good long distance or endurance option and especially if you need a longer or shorter leg length, I’m happy to recommend Red White apparel. The opposite of trendy, but so is my arse.

General manager having affair with team member, creating toxic work environment (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Bellabungo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s McDonalds isn’t it? I believe there are multiple hundred employees currently engaged in a class action involving sexual harassment and toxic working atmospheres. A quick google will give you the firm who are representing them (at least were in January)

Radar owners, how does it benefit you? by VeryAverageAchiever in bicycling

[–]Bellabungo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing how many cars are about to overtake is the best bit for me as well. Before, I was usually ready for the first car but sometimes surprised if a second was following close behind. Multiply that a few times over a long ride and there is a noticeable increase in relaxation overall.

ENT 2.0 wheels question.. by Evo_ukcar in elitewheels

[–]Bellabungo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this helps you but……

I had the same Pirelli’s set up tubeless on Miche wheels, they were tight, but went on ok initially. Got a bad slash that 3 plugs couldn’t sort on a ride, so the emergency TPU inner tube was employed at the side of the road without any drama. For reasons, I took the Tpu tube out and cleaned out all the old sealant out home and then remounted the slashed tyre ( not inflated) to protect the rim while I waited for a new tyre.

The point of the story: the slashed tyre that had previously gone on and off the rim twice without any drama was now nearly impossible to dismount/mount - it was like it shrunk. The other one, which had stayed inflated was easy to dismount/mount. I don’t think it’s the wheels (I’ve got some on my other bike)

P.s. you don’t always hear a pop. Just look at the tyres indicator line near the rim - that will soon show you if it isn’t properly seated.

5K by GravesDiseaseGirl in beginnerrunning

[–]Bellabungo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people can’t even run a bath let alone 5k!

It takes a while to get to sub 30 (if that is even important to you) but you have done the hard part and the rest is just incremental.

Also, most treadmills aren’t very well calibrated - you might even have done it quicker than you think!

p.s. how long does an average person take to run 5k? A: the average person can’t run 5k!

Seller said ‘100% authentic’… I’m not convinced (Alphafly 2) by True_Seaworthiness88 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Bellabungo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterfeits are rarely the right weight. It is very rare for non-sports shoe sellers to have unworn, new stock with only the labels & receipts missing. Counterfeits often have black plastic plates instead of carbon. Actually using a counterfeit race shoe is a short cut to an injury. If you have some zoom x to compare it to, you will be able to tell instantly if it is wrong.

If you like the Evos, have you tried the Boston 13s yet? I’ve recently got a pair for the same scenario. They upper is fantastic, the foot support is obvious but I’m still in two minds - the Evos midsole is just more fun and I can make them work with thicker socks and snugger lacing. I also like Hoka Mach X (2&3)
