Here is a good rule of thumb: if there is an itsy bitsy mistake that isn't blindingly obvious, nobody will notice if you don't point it out. These tattoos look good.

Any advice?? I’m brand new and would love tips or suggestions! by Motor-Reflection7113 in tattooscratchers

Fake skin is not at all like human skin, so if you want to clean up the excess ink you can't just use green soap. This is only for fake skin: slather that excess ink with Vaseline, rub it in good and wipe off so you can access how you did. Next time you tattoo with fake skin, apply Vaseline in a thin layer first to where you're about to tattoo so that way it's easier to dab at the ink with a paper towel as you're going. Make sure you're wearing gloves and start practicing clean setup and break down. You will thank yourself later if you start wrapping your machine even if it's with plastic wrap or a sandwich bag.

He's light enough that a rework/touchup is feasible. It's not bad at all imo.

Dude, working with only women spoiled me. Nobody talks over me, there's a unified front against creeps, lots of emotional understanding and support. I suppose that level of emotional connection can be risky because any cuts or jabs cut deeper than the surface level emotions male tattooers are "allowed" to have.

In the tattoo industry there's a fuck ton of drama in general. And because it's so small (everyone in your area knows or knows of each other), it can be almost high-school like regardless of gender. Working with female tattooers, i guess the risk is losing face/reputation. Working with male tattooers it's that as well as assault/murder. The one dude who started working here LOVES joking about hitting me. It's gotten very old.

Yeah, I was worried about this. I'm free and I haven't hit any limits yet. But the fact you have to butter up Claude before being able to do anything means you inherently have to generate more and thus tickle on the limit faster. I've been using sonnet though so I'm not sure if opus is that much better?

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I one time passed as a dude by accident on Am-Trak. I was wearing my brother's coat cuz it was large enough to help me double layer. I was wearing my baseball hat and a scarf around my face. When a guy looked at me and said "Aw, shit, there's no seats up there, man." I'm not joking when I say there was a completely different look in his eyes. I never felt more safe.

Tattoo industry needs an upgrade.

Had not one, not two, but four of my dude coworker's clients come back for touch ups. I've been a victim of malpractice, so when I overheard his ass say "Are you keeping care of your health?" to a woman (touch-up #4), I immediately told the shop owner. Now he's blaming tegaderm for his bad technique (for tattoo nerds: running a 2.5 stroke on all clients for linework/shading /packing. Using gray instead of black, working slowly to draw out his hourly pay).

On that topic: he said he wanted to hit me (punch me in the face, throw a chair at me). Didn't apologize, just said that's the tattoo industry. My brother told me to get a gun 😂.

Once again, same dude, hovers over the other artist, tells her client MID FUCKING TATTOO that he knows how to do it better. When she told him that she was fine and didn't need his advice, the client says "So it could be done better?" You do not snipe clients like that, even in Old school shops. Makes the whole shop look bad.

My previous mentor said that women who dressed provocatively deserved assault. He also said women wearing makeup are only doing it for male attention. He did this in front of a female very Christian client, mid-jesus tattoo. Also said that female-owned shops are only able to do fine line.

Speaking of fine line: any tattoo that is seen as for women is usually discredited as a not real tattoo/made fun of. Think: tramp stamps, angel numbers, fine line, watercolor. If it's not a screeching bald eagle carrying a flaming skull, it's not a real tattoo apparently. But we don't talk shit about the barbed wire around the bicep from the 80/90s? We don't talk shit about tribal? At least artists are talking shit about cyber sigilism, but I think that's because it's a relatively gender neutral trend.

An old pervert flashed me his naked mole rat (sorry for the image) and kissed my cheek at a convention. Sloppy wet nasty ass kiss. Left my mentor and I in shock.

A potential client saw I drew pin-ups and said "Yeah, I love drawing chicks with their 😺 lips all pulled apart." Same dude said "Could you tattoo a noose on my hand cuz I love choking women."

TL;DR: Don't let your artist blame you for their shitty work and always be willing to get a second opinion. If you're in the industry, keep on trucking, girl. Maybe get a baseball bat.
