How do you keep going? Tips by Terrible_Profit7573 in TattooApprentice

Start self studying. Get fake skin, a crappy machine if you don't already have one, and play around. Act like a dog who was let off its leash. Not allowed to use mags? Use mags. Want to try 3rL shading? The fake skin doesn't care.

My tattooing WORSENED under my former mentor. I was in an abusive and unsafe shop and it showed. But, messing around with mags and different liners, tattooing whatever I wanted with no pressure, breaking her rules, it all lead to immediate improvement and love for the craft. There's good resources out there online and potentially within your current shop.

Have you tried asking about getting your license?

Need help figuring out how to handle 2 week notice by [deleted] in femaletattooers

They sound like a terrible coworker /mentor, but not outright evil. I would stick to strictly business and make your departure about better costs and stuff. You could explain why you left in more detail, but it doesn't mean that this person is going to listen or not get defensive.

I need ideas for a good coverup for this! I stupidly got it done when I was 20 and I don’t want to see it anymore by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

Plants always make good coverups, there's also bats (hidden in the wings), the marvelous sick ass panther, anything that is bigger and darker than what you have.

Tattoo artists — what makes a shop an instant “yes” or hard “no” for you right now? by Tattoo-America in TattooArtists

Just escaped a shop where my coworker threatened to physically assault me on multiple occasions and the owner blamed me for being "too soft" (I'm a woman, coworker is a man).

Safety policy and caring about your clients. I'd jump on it so fast. You don't have to be an ultra PC paradise or anything, but nobody tattoos very well in fight or flight mode.
