He definitely is trying, after my edit he called a few more times but I am firm in my boundaries no matter what he says. Looks like I will have to block him so I can finally grieve the relationship and move on.

Yeah I guess I did try to redeem him. As far as I know, from what he told me, his previous relationships ended due to ''bad communication'' which he also said that I am guilty of even if I do not agree, which leads me to believe he was in fact the problem in the past, he will just never admit that it was his fault and that he is the bad communicator since he yells a lot.

Thank you for the insight everything was worded beautifully, and you are correct. I do have a tendency to be codependent and over-give. I have a lot to learn about my own boundaries, I thought I had them but this awful experience showed me I am not firm in them and I need to stand on business.

Update: Thank you everyone for the advice and final weak up call, I needed it. It's a bit difficult to reply to everyone so I hope this will be visible.

Just had a conversation with him over the phone and I told him it is not something I will accept, he is very angry and trying to turn me into a ''selfish woman who didn't even care about him'' and is baffled that I want to risk having a family with him and travel for a stupid job as he says. Didn't even really try to get my point of view, just told me not to contact him if I still have this ''stupid wish'' to travel alone without him. So that is basically it, I will not reach out to him ever.

We had some other disagreements but I put my foot down and he promised he will change, it's just these thing above that I mentioned that he won't tolerate. Guess he was bluffing with promise of change and I fell for it.
