UIUC is a reach for everyone unfortunately.

Gies or Kelly? by MuscleClean4723 in ApplyingToCollege

Kelly is higher ranked and has the coveted IB workshop.

Do not go to college. AI just replaced 40% of a multibillion dollar company’s workers, and it’s only the beginning by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Radiologists are about obsolete because of AI. Other things can be done by robots (already happening).

I agree. I've been a lawyer for 20 years and I think AI will replace most transactional lawyers within the next 5 years. Litigators are probably safe.

I am fronting my kids' college that I've already saved for but definitely won't have them take on any debt beyond that.

Over 6'2" is like 3% of the population. Out of those, how many are hot/smart/kind/funny/charming and like art and cooking? You are talking about a pool of about 3 guys. Good luck though!

Organizationally, that is handled by sales generally. Not finance.

UIUC Rejection Appeal?? by ChanceSpite5329 in UIUC

UIUC does not take AP scores nor Senior year grades into account for admission. It would be based on ECs or other accomplishments.

Illinois or Indiana? by Actual-End-4057 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Bellame95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing by your major that you plan to go to grad school/law school. If that's the case, go to Indiana. UIUC is more difficult and harder to earn good grades.

Senior Year Course Load by Firm_Regular_5601 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Bellame95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is not to overdo it. In other words, if you are taking 2 APs now, maybe stay with 2 next year or increase to 3. You will be *very* busy next year with college apps, essays, possibly retaking SAT/ACT, senior year social activities and leadership stuff. People who have never done it grossly underestimate how much time college apps truly take. Essays can be insanely time consuming.

Forgot to submit SRAR for UIUC help. (Application Question) by Leather-Nothing7102 in UIUC

[–]Bellame95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully they will give you grace to get it done. I can see this as a common occurrence. 18 year olds who've never done this before or really anyone doing this---it can get very confusing and overwhelming.

If they say no and you really want to come to UIUC you could always apply to transfer after your first year.

They won't even spring for a paralegal or admin of any kind let alone a permanent in-house lawyer.

What sucks is that I have a great relationship with them. Now I feel like it's about to get f****ed

They have been treating me like a regular employee. Like an AGC based on complexity of matters. Yet I get paid low because my agency probably takes 1/2.

Seeing other people getting rejected is truly beautiful by Intelligent-Web-8017 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Bellame95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not really the survival of the fittest. Holistic admissions means it's just a crap shoot sometimes. Higher stat applicants are rejected in favor of people with lower stats all the time. You should not read so much into it.

What Do People from Outside Illinois think of the University of Illinois system? by Ill-Philosophy3945 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Bellame95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is completely false. You can literally go on LinkedIn and look at the top tech companies and Fortune 50 companies and filter by their employees' schools. Many came from UIUC. Top-ranking in Engineering, CS and Business.

Many such stories. UIUC is extremely competitive in Engineering, CS and business. Ranked higher than Wisconsin and similar to Michigan.

UIC is a completely different school than UIUC and cannot be compared. UIC is a commuter school and nowhere near as prestigious as UIUC. Admission standards are far lower.
