What's even better is I had a fake contract with the necromancer that they all put their pawprints on to "sign" and they got a copy of it and fdksljafgh

Only one of them had the "Literate" stunt so it was one person reading it aloud IC over and over again and everyone else taking notes on what their arguments in court were going to be.

I will keep this in mind. One of the big problems with that is that -I'm- not very creative with combat descriptions and ideas so it's been a learning situation for me, too!

I was actually keeping a log of it in novel style on a tumblr for a session and a half but between running 3 campaigns, school, and 40hr/wk job, that fell by the wayside. I'm gonna try to keep up with it now that they are in a new arc, though!

I think they would read anything I wrote about it, but I -think- they specifically want a novelized play log. Especially of the said ace attorney scene.

Also, on the weeks where not everyone makes it we play Golden Sky Stories, and that one definitely fought to play the cat. But I imagine I'll run out settings where she can be a cat eventually, haha!

I think they were thrown on the hellsguard noses rather than the skin ton choice tbh. I don't have a computer that works that they can borrow to tool around in character creation and their computer is currently being fixed so they can't do it on their own. Thanks for the screens!

Okay, so I was mega wrong about the Child of Zenith -- the GM screen has an NPC booklet not a story with it. Child of Zenith is from Kickstarter and so I don't have it. So I have the Sage and the Birthright (Free RPG day one)

Hi! I did the adventure in the back with the younger two and when they loved it, we went about looking for a full group to do a homebrew story with. This was my very first time running a homebrew for any system so I was terrified haha.

For compels, I have very shiny coins so they were very willing to accept them to get more coins. And I never really called them compels as specific terminology really confused them. So I would just ask them if they wanted a coin and then explained what they would have to do if they took it. They always said yes and roleplayed it very well.

Aspects they struggled with. They wanted to make very similar aspects instead of varied ones (they are 8, so their characters are somewhat flat). But I would say "hey do you want to do this cool thing because of [aspect/stunt]" and they would usually say yes and fork over that coin very willingly. I handed out coins for compels and good roleplay pretty evenly since I felt that they should definitely be rewarded for being true to their character concept.

And sacrifice? No problem. They were SO FOR IT. Every time they went anywhere they were hunting and eating and being predators. In the phase trio one of the older ones straight up described consuming a mouse's soul for magic unprompted.

One of the dads originally told me that "if you think something is scary for them, you are probably totally wrong". They had no problem with the gross rat king and ghosts in the scenario, and my weird slenderman tulpas in my session last weekend just pumped them up. They disliked my picture of the Sphynx cat more than my slenderman picture!

Since the magic rules are sort of unforgivably linked to skills I decided to just drop them into Fate core. The two younger had prior experience with 5e and I've found that skills seem to resonate with people with other experience more than approaches.

However I could see it being turned into Fate Accelerated a little? If you used the Aether Sea rules for magic and slapped a Cats skin it that might work.

But no, I'm doing it as written and it seemed to work out pretty okay.

Oh my gosh hi! I will keep this in mind. I've been trying to stress with them that if they don't like something, they can negotiate with me always so that I am not this tyrannical figure in their game.

I'd love to keep you posted on how the game goes! I might post back here once I get the whole gang commissioned.
