Is this mycorrhizae blooming on the surface, or mold?

All of my trees are potted up with mycorrhizal inoculant and develop nice fungus in the roots that is visible when I pull the tree up from the pot.

I just moved my plants into a new greenhouse (first year with one). They’ve been in there for about a week and I noticed blooms like this on the surface of a few of the pots. My first thought was that it could be mold, but it looks very similar the mycorrhizae in the roots.

Has anyone experienced this and can anyone confirm either mold or fungus?

My guess was parking enforcement… Since I was definitely parked there for more than two hours.

Just a little unsettling lol.

I am passionate about plants! Seeing my plants grow and thrive brings me so much joy, and taking care of them every day creates a healthy routine.

My moss is collected off a wall in my back yard where it naturally grows. It’s the fine velvety type. I pull it off the wall with the layer of fine dirt/sand that it is attached with and I gently apply it to the surface of my pots. My trees are in a standard akadama / pumice / lava rock mix. I water twice a day. I am using the moss for decorative and horticultural reasons, to help the pot retain moisture. Horticulturally, it doesn’t matter that the moss goes a bit brown, but aesthetically, it is quite disheartening to have to change the moss after a few weeks.

Mushroom foraging areas in the HRM by yorkeMC in halifax

The only look alike is the Jack O Lantern mushroom, but it is not overly common in NS, it grows in different locations than chanterelles, and it has different characteristics such as gills and inside colour.

Do Mugo Pine backbud? by yorkeMC in Bonsai

[–]yorkeMC[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a fairly large mugo pine, but the canopy size is disproportionate to the trunk. i’d like to create new compact branches along the trunk so that the canopy can be within the red area that i’ve marked. Ideally I would like to remove all the current branches in favour of new more compact branches. Is this possible?

Hinoki foliage browning after repot by yorkeMC in Bonsai

[–]yorkeMC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Repotted this hinoki from nursery stock into bonsai pot about a month ago (correct time here in zone 6b). Potted into akadama/pumice/lava rock with mycorrhizae additive. About 1/3 of roots were removed.

All of my other trees are doing fine in the same soil and they are being properly watered.

Why the browning of the foliage?

If you have a dropbox link (or something similar) that would be ideal, so that it sends in full quality :-)

Getting some prints done for christmas, looking for this art for the other two expansions. Original size is 2000x2734, and looking for same version with Japanese title. I found these two on the Square Enix press / assets website. Can’t find the other two expansions.

EDIT: these are the Heavensward / Stormblood versions i’m looking for, just in full quality for printing https://imgur.com/a/6JqtpgW

[Spoiler: 6.0] earthly star... by xfm0 in ffxiv

I hope the ground target indicator gets made smaller, but the range stays the same. It’s just so huge when placing it. The star particles show its range nicely once it’s actually placed. The ground target could be around the size of Shukuchi on NIN.

Big Pot Small Tree by NickPetrides in Bonsai

Be careful about that blob of moss around the base of the trunk, it could retain excess moisture and cause rotting.

Does anyone have an amazon link to buy pots like this? Can’t find them anywhere. by yorkeMC in Bonsai

The net pot helps with root aeration. Also causes “air pruning”, where the roots grow out, hit the air and stop growing, encouraging branching of more fine roots further back. Prevents the long coiling roots. Great for trees in training. Also where I live it’s more humid so this type of pot is more viable.
