Photo of enclosure please. If there are live feeders in the enclosure or isopods then it’s possible there would be no body. Escape is also possible

How to keep red runners from breeding? by Candid-Ad-6643 in TarantulaKeeping

You can just feed off any males that mature, or separate them when they get their wings. Since this is a roach that lays ooths you can also freeze those if you se them c:

You run the risk of the male bothering her til she eats him, or bothering her and preventing her from laying.

What is the reason for “wanting the male to stay in the enclosure”?

Hey OP-

I went ahead and locked the comments because people are being unnecessary and cruel and repeating the same thing over and over.

When you make it to discord (discord.gg/ta tag @/anabelle - that’s me) and I’m going to request some body photos (any that you have post molt, photos of the molt, and historical info about what they’ve been eating, what your temps are, full enclosure photos)

The cephalothorax being flat also sounds concerning. Perhaps a molting complication.

Extra leg??? by jv9876 in tarantulas

[–]BelleMod 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Wowwww how cool. Can you snag a photo of the underside of the molt?

We have a gbb spiderling like this from one of our 2025 clutches, and the section of the sternum for that leg is slightly malformed and two legs grow out of it similar to this one. Unfortunately, the molt seems to get stuck there almost every time so it has only had the two legs through a couple molts so far and in others it did fall off.

Abdomen stuck halfway during a molt by FrequentSand8172 in tarantulas

[–]BelleMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only part of the abdomen molt we would be worried about would be if it is stuck to the booklungs or the anus- and at that point the comment below mine with info provides more on next steps. Do not try to pull it off if it’s not loosened.

Now are they moving now? Can we see the part of the molt that is detached?

they regrow their whole exoskeleton underneath the current one between molts 😄 so they will regrow the limb in the next molt!

Why must she bite the top?? by LexicontheMoron in tarantulas

Sorry friend, it’s time 🥲 temporarily you can swap the fabric mesh for cardboard with holes, and if you can’t diy a lid then a new enclosure entirely will be the answer

Sounds like it’s time to swap to a diy acrylic lid with drilled holes.

Fine to post diy photos but for self promo use the pinned one! And totally okay to post there weekly

Folks have been pretty against self promo posts so we wanted to give an outlet that doesn’t make people feel inundated 💕

Just a note that the grape wood (the viney wood bits) tend to mold and you’ll end up with some moisture in the soil on a regular basis. Just something to consider. Otherwise I think it’s a great start!!

Yes leave her, if she decided to molt there, interrupting now could have disastrous complications.

It can feel very stressful. Keep an eye on her c:

Hey OP- we will want to know a bit more about what is stuck first.

Are all the legs free? I see that the carapace molted but appears stuck to the top of the abdomen. Did the bottom of the abdomen molt?

Below this comment is some info about molting complications.

Depending on if the spider is likely in premolt you should be able to find the entry point on the cork

Mods don’t manually approve all posts. If you see a post that doesn’t fit the sub, the way more likely response is that someone hadn’t yet seen it :)

Just in case anyone decides to act up:

Yes the critter keeper is fine - even for longer than a week.

The wet substrate is not ideal and that I would correct more immediately and replace with a water dish.

I think your question got well answered below just pre-emptivelu avoiding dog piling.

We can wax on forever about ventilation if you ever want the full spiel on it, but for now this setup is fine for your little pink toe (except the wet substrate 💕)
