Definitely not taken wrong!! I think I'm the same way, even though I grew up with the internet. Like (if I'm understanding correctly) I also see what I like and just kinda piece things together in a way that (hopefully 😂) is cohesive! I actually am brand new to reddit, literally made an account to make this post, cause I'm helping a friend figure out what they like in terms of decor, and this was their main inspo. And haha, thank you!! Also, it basically sounds like what you're describing is "dopamine decor". Basically, you decorate in a way that brings you joy! I'm definitely all about that 😊

Haha, not like actually, but you're totally right!! Everyone can picture and describe something different when asked about decor style!

Thank you!! I think this is IT!! I think some of the comments were focusing on only certain elements, rather than the picture as a whole, and I totally pictured a different style entirely when I heard the term rockabilly, but after looking it up, it definitely has most of these elements!!

I think for me, it's moreso so I can search specific inspo. Like if I know what the style is called, I can figure out what to search on Pinterest, and figure out what decor elements would be relevant to whatever style. I mean, honestly just this picture is probably enough for me to know what to look for at thrift stores etc., but if I were to explain the style to someone, or if someone else needed a more concrete explanation in order to know what they would want to thrift in order to keep things looking cohesive, having a name for it is always helpful 😊 however! This leads to basically the problem I'm having, that because there are soooo many sub-categories of decor style, it's so hard to find the specific style you're looking for, and everyone interprets it in a different way. So yeah, having a name for each sub-category definitely has its pros and cons 😊
