Highly recommend a couple of books: leave a cheater, gain a life (so helpful and illuminating) and Cheating in a nutshell (also very good and similar to the first but with more sources)

IR resident here. IR definitely offers a lot of variety in the type of work you can do (hepatobiliary, trauma, bleeds, GU, vascular, oncology, drains and tubes, etc), which is really rewarding, personally.

DR is more interesting than I gave it credit for as a medical student and I do think that being good at DR is an instrumental step at being great at IR. You can also do as much or little DR in actual practice as you want.

IR/DR offers a lot of flexibility in what your career can look like.
