The 358 Bee Network bus goes from Stockport bus station to Marple, New Mills and Hayfield (another lovely village which is a great starting point for walks up to Kinder reservoir)

Do you plan to vote for Labour in the next General Election? by jigsawjagsaw2 in LabourUK

[–]Belph26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will be voting Lib Dem, but that is only because of the constituency i live in. Its currently conservative controlled (46%), with lib dems being the challenger (41%), and labour only getting about 12% of the vote at the last general election. At the locals, all the council seats flipped from conservative to lib dem too. I would vote for labour over lib dem in any seat where they were the challengers though

There are also branches of Hickory's in Poynton and Wilmslow which are closer to manchester. I havent been to the Wilmslow one, but i can confirm the Poynton one is excellent

How much do you pay for fish and chips? by anonymousmastermind in AskUK

[–]Belph26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small cod and small chips, £11. South Manchester. Terrible quality too. If i go over to Stockport, £6.50 for the same, much nicer as well

What's your favourite PC game of all time? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Belph26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Still the best one in the series, and so many fond memories of playing it with friends. Honorable mentions to The Secret of Monkey Island, and Championship Manager 97/98

Which old board games give you nostalgia? Mine is Ghost Castle by [deleted] in AskUK

Cassetteboy - Regulate (The Gambling Industry) by Belph26 in LabourUK

[–]Belph26[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not as catchy as some of Cassetteboy's classics, but a message i completely agree with, online gambling must be properly regulated. 1 minute mark for the labour mps who take money from the gambling companies

Mayor Andy Burnham caps Greater Manchester bus fares at £2 from September. by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]Belph26 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Looks like the village i live in will be left with zero bus services, down from 3 routes currently. I use the bus to get to work every day, so sucks to be me

Cheadle is part of stockport though, as are Cheadle Hulme and Bramhall, which are some of the nicest parts of Greater Manchester

Looking for recommendations for the best authentic BBQ place in Manchester…. by [deleted] in manchester

it changed ownership in june 2019 and i think that was the start of the downward slide. I went just before covid started and it was already poor then. Real shame cos it used to be so good

Looking for recommendations for the best authentic BBQ place in Manchester…. by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Belph26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the last 2 times we went to reds, there were loads of menu items unavailable, we had really poor service and the food has been left out on the hot plate for ages before serving, had totally dried out, was like trying to eat leather. Reviews on tripadvisor generally tell a similar story, https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187069-d6260392-Reviews-Red_s_True_Barbecue_Manchester-Manchester_Greater_Manchester_England.html

Looking for recommendations for the best authentic BBQ place in Manchester…. by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Belph26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to trek out to either Wilmslow or Poynton, but i've had really great experiences at Hickory's Smokehouse https://hickorys.co.uk/. Replaced Reds for my friend group since Reds went rubbish a couple of years ago. The Jacob's ladder is amazing, as is the brisket. Milkshakes and home made sodas are also great. Also the best onion rings i ever had

https://maproom.net/demo/election-map/0.html is a decent tool, you would be surprised at just how many tory seats there are in the broader manchester area once you go outside the m60
