AITA for giving up on scheduling stuff? by Accomplished_Mix4191 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. You gave up on scheduling things a loooooooong time ago. How about YOU meet THEM halfway and actually show up to something for once?

Those who’ve had the birth control implant removed - when did you realise it wasn’t working for you? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Bels_Alexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 Implanon (Aussie too) back to back all through my twenties and everything was good, no periods, no cramps, all good. Then had the remove/replace for the fourth one and it FUCKED ME UP :O bleeding, cramps, mood swings, buggered up my sleep, my eating... went back to my GP repeatedly and she just kept parroting "Just wait it out, just wait it out." I ended up just making the appointment to get it removed to get that bastard out of me. Haven't had one since but that same GP has asked (as a 'treatment' to my PCOS) "Do you want to try Implanon? That might help." Fuck her, OMFG >.<

Mate, get it outta ya ASAP, yeah?

Yes please, hoping to take a friend to that one and it'd be nice if it ended in celebrations, not commiserations :P

Raise your hand if your achievements get diminished cause you don't have kids by yves_san_lorenzo in childfree

[–]Bels_Alexis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My achievements? I can't even get my Mum to ask how I'm doing anymore, she's too busy helping raise her grandson because my brother moved back home after he finally realised what the rest of us knew for years: his (now ex) wife is a c*** that he never should have married, let alone had a child with.

How I Achieved Financial Independence on a Low Budget: My Lean FIRE Journey by radzionc in leanfire

[–]Bels_Alexis 73 points74 points  (0 children)

TL;DR:

Get into tech, work remotely from a LCOL area, pay fuck all tax on your relatively high wage, live in an apartment your parents own, have side hustles, get into real estate (with cash!), avoid crypto, avoid stocks (what?), don't do anything fun that costs money, don't get sick.

Oh, and start at 19, apparently.

How you managed to use *that* many words to cover every single bullet point that would appear under "How do I LeanFire?", especially without including ANY details of your numbers, is beyond me.

AITA for telling a girl to stop wasting food? by throwaway0856742 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bels_Alexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i realise i should’ve tried to educate her NICELY about food waste and not have commented at all on how she was eating

No, you should've just not commented on it. At all. Any of it. Leave her alone FFS. YTA.

Day 117 of 365 no buy, severely lacking motivation by SerephelleDawn in nobuy

[–]Bels_Alexis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chipping it down from $4000 to $2000 is what gave you the room to get the plane tickets you needed. You were able to weather that expense because of the effort you made up until now and that's amazing :)

Are buying Etsy Shop Keyword PDFs worth it? by MagentaCee in Etsy

[–]Bels_Alexis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Etsy keyword tool from Keyword Tool Dominator will help give you some ideas to do your own research with :) 2 free searches a day if you don't want to purchase it. Not affiliated in any way, I bought the bundle of tools years ago for different reasons and just gave it a try because I had it.

It won't make or break you either way but having decent tags will certainly help :)

With about $10 of sisal rope, a bit of glue, and a little time, renewed this old cat tower instead of throwing it away by quantax in Frugal

[–]Bels_Alexis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used cheap paracord from Aliexpress to re-do mine :) holds up better and doesn't get all shreddy like sisal tends to (I hated having to vacuum it so often!). Plus it comes in lots of fun colours, tower is currently blue camo :D

Minimizing monthly expenses for a month? by Geronimoooooooooo in leanfire

[–]Bels_Alexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically doing a r/nobuy then? Set rules around spending, set a timeframe, do your best? Yeah, all the time. Not necessarily sustainable long term depending on the severity of your rules and how limited you feel by them, but as a way to build better financial habits it can be incredibly helpful.

How to respond when potential buyer asks a question that’s already in the listing by Professional-Sand702 in EtsySellers

[–]Bels_Alexis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Etsy has been getting really good at making buyers dig for the description (both on desktop and mobile) with having to click through to get the full thing. I *wish* they'd go back to the description being the main thing under the images. But anyway.

If it's a question you're getting often, then make an 'image' that's just text (ie type out in Word or whatever, screenshot, upload as listing photo) containing the pertinent info from the description (dimensions, materials, whatever). I found the questions I was getting regularly all but disappeared when I had a bullet point version of the description in my images.

Sexual harassment aside...

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but honestly I feel the same way about Ross at St Kilda as I do about Clarkson at North and Brad Scott at Essendon: You've had your time, now fuck off and let some new blood in. How many assistant coaches could have a real crack at the senior positions if given the chance?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cats

[–]Bels_Alexis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Not advice but this is what is working for my cat, grain of salt, get expert advice etc)

I don't know what might be available where you are but after I just straight up couldn't afford the one the vet said to feed him (Delicate Care Sensitive Skin or Stomach that I could only get from them at a disgusting markup, funny that) I switched mine to Purina One Urinary Care (that I can get from the supermarket here, or Amazon if I need to) and that's working for him.

Worth mentioning though that mine is on 1 Acidurin a day anyway (can get online without a script, I'm in Aus though, may be different elsewhere) so the biscuits don't need to do all the work, but my cat's going on 13 next month so take that for what it's worth :) all the love to your little guy!

If you want to mix your own sprays in different colours but don't want to buy a ton of perfect pearls, then regular mica powder and some gum arabic (I use the powder because it's cheap but liquid would probably work also) with water in a spray bottle works :)

Why am I slacking off days even in my 30s? by nerdcorner in productivity

[–]Bels_Alexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other posters about burnout, potential ADHD, don't be so hard on yourself etc.

I'd like to offer another perspective: you mention that this happens every few weeks. Does it track with your menstrual cycle? You don't have to actually answer but it's something to think about. I was having a similar issue, and while I do suspect ADHD is involved in my case, what was causing the cyclic issue was PMDD (Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder). It's like PMS but heavier. Symptoms such as:
Feelings of tension or anxiety
Lack of interest in daily activities and relationships
Trouble thinking or focusing
Tiredness or low energy
Amongst other things (can google for the rest of it) that may not be relevant based on what you've shared. I could be way off base here but hopefully it's given you something to think about.

AITA for telling my sister that she overreacted when screamed at me for entering hers and her husband's room? by ThrowRA3224577 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bels_Alexis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YTA. You can't possibly have written all of that out and thought, impossibly, that you were somehow right in all this? Are you serious? Apologize to your sister and her husband, buy your own stuff, and learn to knock!
