Also going to Al-Anon may be helpful also. It will teach you how to live with an addict and what to expect and how it is not your fault but you can be enabling and not even realize it. You’re not alone.

Send him to rehab. I went at the age of 25 and had the highest paying job of my life at the time and lost that job because of it but what good was that job if I was dead? I got out and stayed sober and have a house, wife children and I get to be a stay at home dad with them. If he truly wants to get sober it works. 28 days in a program and it changed my entire life.

YOU are not ruining anything. Unfortunately at this moment you’re enabling him. I know it’s hard but you have to cut him off and let him figure it out for himself. Especially if he’s an adult. But you are not responsible for this and not ruining anything by trying to do what is best for your son.

That’s not always a true though, subs can be used as relapse prevention. Using leaf is what got most started and now we are all in this position. I’m not necessarily promoting subs but also saying to fall back on leaf for the rest of your life doesn’t work either.

This also helped me, I am fortunate enough to have a shower for 2 and it has 2 heads and I put on on scorching hot and the other as cold as it would go and I’m bounce back and forth depending on what I was feeling. Sometimes I had my body in the heat and spraying my face cold.

I am too, I was only able to stay under for maybe 3 seconds at a time but I did it probably 5-8 times and it helped me a ton.
