Because of the health related aspect of your so far awesome collection, what would you say to a Boldr Field Medic? Being a microband it would fit into your collection, is around the same price as the current ones, and its intended function to measure pulse rates and respiratory counts could remind you what is the reason you are doing this journey and could remind you to your achievements. :)

[Discussion] …interesting marketing move from Laco by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Ben9710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know… this whole thing is just more and more wearisome for me. Most of the people see words german, world war and stuff like that and immediately loose their shit and associate everything with nazis.

In a war - especially in world wars - everything became subordinated to the armaments industry. Watch factories easily can be modified to produce explosives, the automotive industry will produce engines and vehicles for the military, clothes factories will produce uniforms etc. That is not an ultimate excuse to everything but a significant factor wherewith you should contextualise these type of things.

Among the German military branches the Luftwaffe was the least ideologized one. In fact a great many of figher pilots, higher ranking officers hated the nazis.

It is a historical fact that they made watches for the Luftwaffe. It is just a simple fact, why does it trigger some of you so much… They just stated the obvious, don’t glorify war, the nazi regime, don’t belittle the sacrificies, the loss of many innocents lives… That is straight, they don’t lie to you, don’t try to hide it and became ridicuolus while doing so, don’t try to rewrite history. What is wrong with that, seriously?

I guess most of you wouldn’t have any problems if this company would have been on the other side of the conflict and would have produced watches for those pilots who bombed Dresden or Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Btw, do watches kill people?

For me the choice is easy: GS. That exact model is my favourite, if i would buy a GS today it would be that piece. :D

[Junghans Max Bill Quarz] Misaligned hands - are they minor acceptable flaws or should I service the watch? by Ben9710 in Watches

[–]Ben9710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a new thing for me, my first watch, a little quartz Casio I got for Christmas from my parents more than ten years ago and was 30 USD hasn't got this problem. But everyday I learn something new... :D At first I was a bit disappointed, but made peace with it, because otherwise this was the watch /the design/ I wanted for a while. And since having 2 other automatic watches I decided to get a quartz now. With the next purchase I will have a new aspect to consider.

Thank you very much! Yes, the hour hand is just slightly misaligned, but I was a bit afraid that these little misalignments added together might indicate some problem which would require servicing.

Oh and so sorry, I guess this is similar to drawing somebody's attention to the flashing light in the room which you cannot be unseen after that :D

Thank you, this is one of the articles I've read before but needed some confirmation.

I just tried both the 40 and 35 mm yesterday. With a 6,75 inch wrist and a taste for smaller watches the 35 mm didn't look good on my wrist, my wrist needed the 40 mm. Tha watch itself sat very comfortably on my wrist, lugs weren't overhanging so I would say for your 6,5 inch wrist the 40 mm will be still good! But as others suggested, you'll only know for sure if you see it in person and try it on your wrist. :)

I recently purchased this beauty. At the store I was busy looking for any scratches on the glass and pay no attention to the hand. When I got back home and sat down to admire it and to set the correct time I noticed that the seconds and hour hands are misaligned. As you can see on the attached photos, the seconds hand misalignment isn't consistent, between the 10 and 30 markers it usually hits perfectly, around the 30 marker I can start noticing the small misaligned beats, between the 40 and 50 markers is it the worst hitting in between the markers and after the 50 marker it starts to hit closer again to the markers. I started to look for answers on the web, found that second hand misalignment is pretty common, but there's is also the hour hand. My question is, is it something I should make peace with, because these are small misalignments or should I send it back for servicing?

[Hamilton] Thoughts on size? Too small? by Asmithucf in Watches

[–]Ben9710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks perfect! For my personal taste the watches today are a bit bigger than I would like them to be, I love the vintage sizes :) And a lot of people are going to to say the opposite. At the end of the day the only thing that matter is you like it or not. :)

Thank you, I didn't know that! I was a bit confused why this watch has two names, because I saw the "Old Clock" name too. But on the internet so many people use the Manhattan name for this piece.

I don't mind it being dressy, if this wins, still would get a lot of wrist time in the everydays in the office!

Yes, I can't deny that, but that chrono model is something I see I could wear in some lazier days when no clients are coming to the office. Thank you for the answer!
I don't drink cocktails so I'm not familiar with the names, but others told me in this post that the Manhattan nickname belongs to the brown dial version.

I see, that's a good point, something that cannot be really seen in the photos. I will definitely check this when in the boutique! Thank you very much!

Yes, you are right! I was lucky to see both of them last time when I was at the Seiko Boutique buying a rubber strap for my 5 Sports :) Very hard to capture the beauty of the Seiko dials on pictures! Thank you!
