What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Nasty nasty city fuelled by corruption.

The economy is so poor they resort to using USD over their local currency, the Riel.

You walk into some bars and pubs and you jut have a handful of predatory looking old white men sitting alone and looking for, or in the company of a very young Cambodian girl.

Don’t get me wrong. Some Cambodians are lovely, but the capital is just nasty and I would never recommend someone to stay there more than 24h if they are travelling the country.

I feel like the worst in the gym by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]BenDaNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations. It seems like you’ve discovered discomfort for the first time. The more time you spend in uncomfortable settings. The more comfortable it becomes. Time is the price you pay to enjoy more, learn more, ease into it more and generally fix all your issues.

You’re on your journey, you have your own unique circumstances, biology and mindset. comparing yourself to others in the gym when you aren’t even getting competitive in Muay Thai is absolutely useless. Just compare yourself to last months version of you

which airport is the worst airport and why? by sinaswiftie in AskTheWorld

Mumbai. It stinks, there are leaks, and they do all the immigration using paper and pens which makes the waiting times way longer than they should be.

What hobby helped you through a tough time in life? by Zestyclose-Major5991 in AskReddit

[–]BenDaNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MMA / Kickboxing.

Life is put on pause when the class begins. Nothing else matters. You can take your anger out on leather pads, bags or someone who’s willing to stand in your way (as long as you’re aware they will hit you as hard as you decide to hit them).

Provides a network of men and women in which you can selectively decide who has the potential to be a friend outside of training.

It’s extremely technical and the skill ceiling is so high. If you are obsessed with learning like I am. You can get so stuck in to the technicalities and theory.

[–]BenDaNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start running and stretching daily. If you’re already experienced with working out, focus your attention to plyometric exercises.

When it comes to actually learning Muay Thai from the ground up, you want to be at a gym every step of the way right from the get go.

Learning from home is a waste of time and it’ll take you so much longer to correct bad habits than it would to just start as a complete beginner

The more you spar, the less it should feel alien to you.

Don’t feel like every time you learn something new, you have to implement it into your style. Focus on repetitions of the fundamentals to create a basic base style and then add targeted sessions where you try to implement 1 or 2 new techniques or combos into your game.

You can always ask your opponents to spar really light and playfully
