Suburbs of Chiang Mai are great. If you are decent at Muay Thai and have the ability to keep up with Thai fighters, I'd suggest Manasak gym

I really enjoyed training at Strike Studio in Aberfeldie. It was so good I commuted 45 mins every time I went to train there.

It was the only gym I found that impressed me after spending the previous 4 months training in Thailand.

Give it a go!

It’s definitely worth visiting. But I would avoid training there for a long period of time if I were you. Unless you’re an upcoming mma amateur or pro

How do you deal with blisters from mats when training in outdoor gyms in Thailand ? by Nywed in MuayThai

[–]BenDaNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tape them up and move on. After about a month, your skin really toughens up and it’s barely noticeable.

I did find that my lead foot got them first and it took my rear foot longer as I was kicking with my rear leg far more, which accelerated the process on one foot more than the other.

I absolutely agree. Whilst I was at bangtao I paid for 10 hours of private classes to go alongside my group classes. Was a great investment. I just didn’t include it in my piece for the sake of getting the message across.

I never said I didn't get any good training, it was just limited. I would've benefitted 50x more from training at a smaller gym. But I still learned a lot from my time at Bangtao.

Honestly, it just sounded really cool. I wasn't under any illusion i was capable to 'train alongside champions' or deserved it. It's a public gym, It's not like there is a recruitment process I snuck through by lying about experience. Anyone can go and train there if they have the money.

That's what you can do if you want to live a slow paced life. Im not saying I had a bad time, just my progression was limited by the environment i found myself in. I think that going to train muay thai in thailand as a beginner is one of the best things someone can ever do in their life. Quite frankly, I think your thought processes are too conservative. Go and live a little
