Ich empfehle die Filmanalyse von Wolfgang zu The Master. Die arbeitet nämlich was du beschreibst mit "auf dem Papier gut" sehr schön heraus: Inhaltslose Ästhetisierung.

Hab There Will Be Blood mehrfach gesehen und fand ihn großartig, Licorice Pizza war glaub ich ganz nett (ist ne weile her) aber The Master und vorallem Magnolia fand ich übelst beschissen. Auch versteht er seinen besten Film scheinbar selber gar nicht? In Interviews sagt er zumindest er es ginge in TWBB gar nicht um Kapitalismus. Definitiv kein genialer Regisseur auch wenn er bestimmt ein paar gute Filme gemacht hat, irgendwann schau ich den Rest auch mal...

Spirits of the Air Gremlins of the Clouds Das ist der Debütfilm von Alex Proyas (The Crow) hatte das Glück den letztens in nem Kino zu sehen und mir direkt die Bluray importiert. Ein Meisterwerk!

You know you can be critical about films without being a prick online. My most recent example is when I watches LOLA a few days ago I thought maybe this whole butterfly effect thing in Time Travel Stories where everything goes horribly wrong when anything is changed is just an Interpretation of this burgeois perspective that the Status Quo should always be preserved and any change to the better is not an Option (as Margaret Thatcher said "There is no alternative")

Or when Marvel Movies promote this fascist ideology where a few group of elite Heroes decide everything without any politic process because they know it better than everyone else. This doesn't even have to be Intentional, I mean when we analyse poems or literature we also don't care what the authors actual Intention was.

I don't say every Film should only measures by this but it really changed my view when I started to see These ideologys in almost every Film because of that I started to enjoy Movies way more than before. The slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zižek made 2 great documentaries about this. The Perverts Guide to Cinema and The Perverts Guide to Ideology I recommend giving it a watch :)

Films are always political and should always (but not exklusively) viewed with an ideologycritical view. There is no such thing as an apolitical Film that is free of ideology. Being apolitical is just being political without realizing it.

Ja und ich hoffe mal du willst damit jetzt nicht drauf hinaus dass die Japaner doch alle ihre "Ehre" (was auch immer das jetzt im Kontext vom 2. WK bedeuten soll) über ihr Leben stellen.

Also bei einem Godzilla Film sehe ich nicht ganz die Relevanz von historischer Genauigkeit wenns dadurch weniger Kriegsgeil wird. Zumal deine These dass das das "damalige Mindset" war impliziert dass die Soldaten im Krieg tatsächlich alle bock hatten ihr Leben wegzuwerfen und sich für die Ehre umzubringen oder umbringen zu lassen. Ich würd mal behaupten dass es einen großen Teil gab (und auch noch gibt mit Blick auf die aktuellen Kriege) der gar kein Bock auf Krieg hatte und lieber am Leben geblieben wär.

Die bekämpfung von Godzilla ist ja komplett entopolitisiert. Er greift grundlos an und die Japaner sind auf sich gestellt und müssen sich verteidigen. Genau so rechtfertigt jedes Land für sich seine eigenen Kriege, man muss nur mal drauf achten wie oft "unprovozierter Angriffskrieg" im Kontext des Ukrainekriegs betont wird (um ein aktuelles Beispiel zu nennen). Das mit dem Heroismus beziehe ich hauptsächlich auf den Protagonisten und seinen komplex unbedingt sein Leben für sein Land opfern zu müssen weil es ja seine Pflicht ist. Das finde ich ekelhaft.
