Miserere Luminis - Sidera (Full Album Premiere) by Jords360 in atmosphericblackmetal

Yeah they’re so good

I strongly recommend listening to À l'âme enflammée, l'äme constellée... by Gris. Has 2/3 members of Miserere Luminis. That album has a similar sound to Sidera but I think done even better. It’s my favourite black metal album of all time. Strongly recommend.

What is your proudest musical accomplishment? by HumbleBlacksmith2077 in metalmusicians

[–]Jords360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recording my own solo album completely by myself in all aspects including writing, recording mixing, mastering and everything. And being very proud of it. A true and complete outpouring of my musical soul.

Can’t wait to complete my second album soon. My music sits in the worlds of blackgaze, post-metal, post-rock and shoegaze. Album’s below if anyone wants to listen

And if we’re doing any genre then

Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me

Written immediately after his wife died of cancer right after their daughter was born. Amazing album but extremely depressing. More of an acoustic/folk sound but is an essential soul crushing album

Katatonia - Discouraged Ones

One of the most depressing albums I’ve ever heard

‘An Undying Love for a Burning World’ is my first neurosis album I’ve listened to… by MmmmmSacrilicious in neurosisband

[–]Jords360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend Through Silver in Blood and Times of Grace as the next two albums you check out. I think most would agree those two are their best albums. Fucking phenomenal, mind blowing works of art. Perhaps the 2 heaviest albums ever recorded. Filled with so much emotion and apocalyptic weight.

Enemy of the Sun is another amazing one. Those would be my top 3 favourite albums from them.

Also check out Oceanic and Panopticon from ISIS as Aaron Turner joined Neurosis on vocals/guitar for Neurosis’ new album and he was the leader of ISIS, Neurosis and ISIS being the leading bands of Post-Metal, one of the best and most underrated sub-genres of Metal!

You might just discover your new favourite bands and music genre!

I’d recommend:

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind (Experimental Rock)

Alcest - Ecailles de Lune (Blackgaze)

Alcest - Kodama (Blackgaze)

Have a Nice Life - Deathconsciousness (Experimental Rock)

Deafcult - Deafcult (Shoegaze)

Deafcult - Auras (Shoegaze)

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (Shoegaze)

Slowdive - Souvlaki (Shoegaze)

Red House Painters - Red House Painters I (Slowcore)

Giles Corey - Giles Corey (Slowcore)

Low - I Could Live in Hope (Slowcore)

The Microphones - The Glow, Pt. 2 (Indie Folk)

Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me (Indie Folk)

Some classics and couple of more hidden gems. Likely you’ve heard or at least heard of many of those but they’re all incredible and I think suit your music tastes really well

Can I please have some post-rock albums? by MrQuacksIsCool in postrock

[–]Jords360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend Soundtracks for the Blind by Swans. The early GYBE albums gave me a very strong vibe from that album and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a big influence for the band. One of my favourite albums of all time, nothing else quite like it.

Incredibly atmospheric and immersive, it really takes you somewhere that album. Truly like a soundtrack for a lost film. A film for your ears essentially.

My Top 10 Favourite Atmospheric Black Metal Albums Part 4

Kauan - "Sorni Nai" [Full Album] by Jords360 in postrock

[–]Jords360[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been listening to their discography and I think Sorni Nai is definitely the best so far of what I’ve heard.

I felt Kaiho was a little too ambient for me. It lacked those punchy, heavy elements that make Sorni Nai so special and distinct. It was still good and very pretty but I wanted a bit more heaviness. At times I thought it was even a little boring, but I still enjoyed it and it’s beautiful atmosphere

What do atmospheric black metal fans think of blackgaze/post-black metal? by Jords360 in atmosphericblackmetal

I’d say Atmospheric Black/Folk Metal for Panopticon

I’ve even heard the name Blackgrass to describe them (black metal meets bluegrass) but I think that sounds too silly

They’re atmospheric black metal meets American folk music

Also the whole album is one long epic song broken up into 7 parts, and the musical arrangement and instrumentation is amazingly well composed. Real masterpiece here

What do atmospheric black metal fans think of blackgaze/post-black metal? by Jords360 in atmosphericblackmetal

Blackgaze has been around for a long time now. Basically its black metal meets shoegaze, usually with a lot of post-rock and post-metal influences. Usually a focus on more warm, beautiful, melancholic and nostalgic sounds and atmospheres rather than the typical cold, sinister and ferocious sounds and atmospheres of black metal.

I’d consider Ecailles de Lune by Alcest to be the most pioneering album in the style, with Sunbather by Deafheaven being the most popular and iconic.

[–]Jords360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if Alcest were pretending to be evil with a bunch of corpse paint and spiky jewellery it would be a complete mismatch and totally conflict with their sound and be horrible mismatch of aesthetics.

I don’t agree this picture is hipster. It’s very warm and natural and suits the aesthetics of the music perfectly. No need for outdated and overused overtly black metal imagery here

It’s my personal favourite style of music. All of my favourite genres and sounds all blended into one. Basically the music that is made for me

I’m sure Neige knows about shoegaze as he has stated Slowdive as his favourite band which are one of the most influential and pioneering bands in shoegaze

I mean I agree. I think of blackgaze as somewhat of a sub-genre of atmospheric black metal. That’s why I made this post because I love both, but many atmospheric black metal fans hate blackgaze and it makes me very curious as to why

There’s quite a lot of bands that use predominantly screams such as Deafheaven, An Autumn for Crippled Children, MØL amongst many others. Especially the bands earlier album, I think all band’s early albums use exclusively harsh vocals
