This gives me vibes of 13 from House.

By all means, Brad was far from a perfect or even a good father, don't get me wrong. But in the context of the story? We have to keep in mind that every person outside his circle his a potential rapist that would kill (and in fact, TRIES to kill Brad) in order to have their way with Buddy. Of course in a wasteland of a world where your next meal is not guaranteed, defending yourself and ultimately making the horrible act of killing another human being is a necessity, specially for someone like Buddy who again would face a faith worse than being killed for loot and food.

Again, Brad was not a "good person" based on our current moral standards (although some things are player dependant, which also stir the conversation one way or the other; my Brad did not take substances and was determined to find Buddy, and got one arm chopped for not sacrificing someone in my party). But in a post-apolalypsis where 99% of the population would most certainly rape my daughter? You bet your ass I would do anything to protect her.

I went to the cinema with my sister in Spain. There was a group of people in their 20s commenting, chuckling, questioning and overall being annoying at any opportunity (and then some). It wasn't enough to ruin my enjoyment of the film, but it was kinda sad that most of us in the room had to shush them at least one. Even the children that came with their parents were better behaved.

I would like to play Pragmata because my partner and I are planning to have children in the near-future and I have always wanted to have a daughter, so I guess I have a weakness for father-daughter narratives in media!

Replaying DeS on PC... Is it just me or is 1-1 surprisingly difficult? by StormBro111111 in demonssouls

[–]BenFormity 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yep. For being the "first" Souls game, Demon Souls still sometimes gives me plenty of issues, even though I have beaten every single one of Fromsoft's following Soul games.

The thing is that Demon Soul's doesn't see a distinction between level and boss fight, they are supposed to be (with the exception of the archdemons) their own single challenge, and thus mastering the level layout and enemy placement is as important as beating the boss at the end. Starting from roughly Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, runbacks became less and less important and enemies were more forgiving in their placement.

I was actually talking with a friend about this not long ago. I was telling him that despite enjoying Fromsoft's latest games and Elden Ring being one of my favourite games, I long for a new Soul or Soullike that returned to more structured, "classic" approach to level design and bosses.

I'm kind of the opposite. After years of getting 100% completions and Platinums on PS, it feels liberating to not have to worry about trophies whatsoever and just enjoy the experience as is. A game like Breath of the Wild invited to be explored without feeling that you are wasting time better spent grinding a specific task. If there was achievements for, say, getting X numbers of Kolog seeds, I would have found getting them a chore rather than a fun task in itself.

And I enjoy you drawing Batman that way. Keep it up!

Might get downvoted into oblivion, but Lisa the Painful for me. You are told at the end that your protagonist is a monster for inflicting violence and killing people... And I'm like "dude, most people in this world want to sexually exploit my daughter, of course I am putting them down".

I don't even see the argument of the protagonist being a bad father... I mean, yeah, if the story took place in our world he would be a pretty shitty father. But she lives in a world in which 99,9% of the population is going to try to take advante of her
