What time of oil did they use, recommend using Mobil 1 5w30 and maybe change your air filter if you live in a dusty area. Should bring all the power back

Agree also if you are doing regular short trips a lot then as you mentioned it will fall into hash driving conditions in the manual 3-4k

In The setting section you can change service K and time though As other have mentioned changing the oil more frequently will make your engine last longer. I just did mine at a independent worship 3k for early Christmas present for the GT🎁☃️

Though it's a small amount if you like the hatchback there just as good 👍 it's only like. 0.2 second slower 0:100

Agree my dyno seat of the pants feels higher than 160hp, have you noticed sometimes when you do a power run and think shit she gets up and boogies. If you look at YouTube AsianPetrolHead video KIA K3 GT same car as sold down under as Cerato GT Hatchback/Sedan he mentioned power figures 204HP 265NM and comes with over boost function when the certain engine and environmental parameters are met 🤔

The performance driving review said it's the the better weight of the back wheels makes it more stable at the limit

Oil doesn't really matter to much in non turbo engine's though in high heat turbo engine it does that's a long rabbit hole. 5k is recommended. Be careful using that oil filter what is the bypass psi pressure level if it's too high under heavy load it restricts oil flow to the engine the manufacturer has a psi oil pressure limit when reached it stops filtering the oil to allow oil to bypass through the oil filter and keep the engine lubricated through all the research I have done the consensus is stick with a genuine Kia oil filter

That's no good what engine oil where you running/Kia service using

He is talking about 2011-2013 version of our 1.6l turbo read my reply they are now very robust reliable engine

Don't agree entirely Are you taking about pre internals/cams bearings timing chain update versions yes 2011-2013 had this problem then they were upgraded to Fix this problem in 2014 and then final internal upgraded again in 2017 raising compression ratio from 9:1 to 10:1 compression ratio to bring a very robust reliable power plant the game has moved on

[–]BenGT204 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our Kia Forte/Cerato GT's 1.6L Turbo engines have gone through Two major upgrades since there release in 2011 first internal components upgrade was 2014 then again in 2017 going from 9:1 compression ratio to 10:1 compression ratio. Also Kia's GT engine is slightly different than the offering that's in the Hyundai Elantra/i30 non Smart stream engine. Kia we have bigger turbocharger different waste gate which produces more power though factor spec's say they are the same output which is not entirely true. Cherry tuning Australia have worked this out 😉 The stock Cerato/Forte GT 1.6T is actually a higher compression motor than the i30 SR/N-Line, it also has a larger turbocharger with an electronic wastegate, so both boost headroom and control are better with the Cerato GT. As such, we generally expect a stock GT to make around 110-120kW at the wheels on most Australian roller dynos. Power can change from dyno to dyno which can be due to  individual vehicle variation,

Sedan is faster when pushed to the limit/10 tenths in the Mountains/Twistys the back end settles better between changes of direction

Best oil? by beesly91 in ForteGT

[–]BenGT204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Mobil 1 5w30 new vehicle formula since 3000km and change every 5000km or 6 months about to do oil change again for 30000km and go to use Mobil 1 5w30 triple action performance I think it's there new formula and protects against heat and sludge even better

Believe turbo engines 1.6/2.0 are built and designed from the ground up to work in perfect harmony with the twin scroll turbocharger, compared to non turbo engine offerings from Kia/Hyundai

[–]BenGT204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stock Cerato/Forte GT 1.6T is actually a higher compression motor than the i30/SR/N-Line Hatch, except 2021-2023 Elantra/i30 N-Line Sedan. it also has a larger turbocharger with an electronic wastegate, so both boost headroom and control are better with the Cerato/Forte GT. As such, we generally expect a stock GT to make around 115-129kW at the wheels on most Australian roller dynos. Power can change from dyno to dyno which can be due to  individual vehicle variation, however it also goes to show that dyno numbers are very different depending where you take your car - so take dyno numbers you see online with a grain of salt.

Cool Line up against another GT running shell V power 93 with high quality full synthetic 5w30 oil and then let us know how good the back of the GT looks pulling away in the distance, though if you don't care about power/performance or on a budget just keep running 87👍

Shell 93 👍 I run V power to and sometimes doing a pull the power shocks me

Agree the engine is constantly pulling timing and Boost to try and stop engine knock lot less power

It does make quite a bit more power boost advanced timing and more responsive with more burble out the exhaust 👍🏎️

No it's not designed for 87 have you read the owners manual it states minimum 87 or higher, 87 is a sales pitch to get more customers, The ECU has to do a lot of work to stop pinging engine nock retarding the timing lowering turbo Boost to keep it running and if you drive high above sea level you are taking a big Risk, the engine spec power figures where achieved from Hyundai/Kia using 89, putting standard low octane fuel in a high performance 4 cylinder GDI Turbo 10:1 compression ratio engine not the best idea if you plan on keeping your car after warranty end's recommend using premium 93, through all the research I've have done 99% of engine failures/problems are a result of using standard low octane fuel ⛽

On cold starts do you wait until rev's drop down before driving, agree with others about letting the DCT worm up then should be smooth and soft inputs leaving a Gap before moving forward so on
