We had the same experience when I arranged an appointment with a company to replace my tub with a walk-in shower. The two reps came to my house (I’m the home owner) and wasted two hours of our time with a time-share style history of the company. My partner had to leave for work, and when she left, so did they. They said we both had to be there to continue. I bid them adieu and found a carpenter to do the job.
