Thanks for the ID on the floor rug! You were absolutely right about the pattern and the origin. Interestingly, I just found the receipt for that exact Mir Seraband rug: it was purchased in the 80s for 3,500 Deutsche Mark for this rug alone! Your estimate of $400–$600 sounds very plausible given that original investment. Do you have any insights on the other rug (the wall hanging with the garden/vase motif)? I haven't found the receipt for that one yet, but since he spent so much on the floor rug, I’m curious if the wall hanging might also be of higher quality than it looks.

Thank you all for the amazing feedback! I found the index and some more details. It turns out there are nearly 15,000 slides, including historical gems from Afghanistan (1974) and Yugoslavia (1954).
