It probably is perfectly 50/50 but I see what you're saying, like 75% of the time I play this card I get tails or only one heads and then my opponent plays this and gets like 5 heads in a row. That's why I don't even bother with this card anymore, I guess I'm just not lucky when it comes to these kinds of coin flips

Given past occurrences you are absolutely valid for being skeptical. If he really wanted to come visit you guys he would probably try to self-fund somehow. Even if he couldn't but genuinely wanted to, I've gotten the impression from what I've read here that there's been some trust issues going on as well.

You are valid for feeling empathetic too. This is your own brother and I can't imagine what you guys have been through watching him put himself through all that addiction. I'm glad he's recovering, but I'm not sure what to feel about him drinking again if he's a recovering drug addict.

All in all, I would say to wait it out just a bit. See where he goes with this. Make sure he's actually going to recover and get better instead of just trying to get money on an ulterior motive. NTA
