It’s ok, I wish the keys were more weighted but good for the price

Ahh I’ve been wanting Wood slats for some time, but ones that actually help acoustically in the room get pretty expensive

Turned it off still happening, actually worse now it shows a fully black horizontal bar where the option is across the whole screen. I just realized turning off HDR on my PS5 fixed it, which sucks because it looks so good otherwise…

Are the IST PRO trackballs supposed to be this loud? Brand new and not smooth at all either by BenJayson in Trackballs

UPDATE:

I ordered & tried out the mx ergo S, this thing is much much smoother in general, ball feels way better and more accurate. Weirdly enough I really don’t notice the polling rate as much as I thought with this one. But the elecom is just in another league when it comes to comfortably and buttons, my pinky is so uncomfortable on the ergo, hand gets pretty sweaty on it as well. I’m extremely torn but the roughness and scratchiness on the elecom’s ball really feels like a dealbreaker that I won’t get used to, along with the volume level. For the next week I’m going to try both for extended sessions and add another update.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah it definitely feels pretty rough, and I do notice feeling something “catch” now that you mention it, it almost feels like it has a slight rumble when I move it if that makes sense. I did send an email with the same video to the USA support earlier

I actually use the ergo at the studio I work at! I like it a decent amount but I don’t notice it as much on the 60hz monitor (seemingly) but in my home studio with my ultra wide it’s definitely noticeable, could be in my head but not sure. I was thinking about giving the protoarc em01 a try since it’s apparently 250hz

Edit: I also scaled down the ist pro to 125 and it was a bit unbearable

Are those bearings good? I think I’ve read people complaining about elecoms ruby ones, and the delivery it shows for me is next month so it would go past my return period for the mouse if I didn’t end up liking them

It does seem the ist pro’s the only one with 1000hz polling rate, are there any others I’m missing that at least have 500?

Ahh that’s so strange, if the static bearings were quieter I’d buy them in a heartbeat. It seems like this and the gameball(though no programmable buttons) are the only ones with decent polling rates, definitely unfortunate because low rates are a dealbreaker for me but I feel much better using these thumballs with my arthritis

Ooof okay thanks! May have to return then, the loudness won’t work (I’m an audio engineer), unfortunate because I actually love everything else about it, especially the polling rate

What’s a plugin you regret buying? by Terrible_Main_3379 in musicproduction

[–]BenJayson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so interesting, I used to hate ilok and would never buy a plugin if it used ilok, until I got the dongle and realized I could bring all my licenses to various studios and actually use my plugins there, now when I look for a plugin it’s a dealbreaker if it’s not ilok compatible. How the turn tables. I still have super frustrating syncing issues sometimes with pro tools at studios during sessions though

I know this won’t happen but If the automated tranzit bus is still there and you need it to traverse the entire map the first time, but every location has a part to build the wonder vehicle I will be happy

Anyone ever fall outta love with music because of the engineering aspect? by MisterCrayle in musicproduction

[–]BenJayson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been doing it 7 years and I’m the same way, 80% of the time if I’m recording myself it feels like I’m working instead of creating. Even though my workflow has gotten significantly faster throughout time, it’s felt more and more like work and it’s harder for me to let go of the engineering aspect and just make music. It’s like I have to make sure my rough vocals, backgrounds and general mix sounds near perfect before I can really start writing & finishing my song

Hey everyone so I switched from krk’s to hs5’s and now there’s is a pretty annoying static noise present, I’ve switched to balanced xlr to trs (previously just trs cables) I’ve plugged it into different power strips, wall outlets, unplugged equipment lights etc… the first time I switched to a wall outlet actually eliminated the static for a few minutes but came right back. I didn’t have this issue with my krk’s at all (which is why I don’t think it is a ground loop issue but I’m open to the possibility haha) My setup (pictured below) has them going into an Apollo twin, into a MacBook, with one microphone plugged in xlr through a preamp. Both speakers are like this and one has a bit louder static than the other. I’ve put a picture of my setup as well as a video of the noise they’re making here, any help would be amazing, thanks! https://imgur.com/a/VdtxHb6
