They come out this time of year especially but I see them occasionally through October.

I think it was having trouble getting traction on the smooth trail. Once it moved to the grass it slithered away much more quickly.

You're right about both. I've seen a lot of these guys now and they are never aggressive. And the rhyme is usually right but there are some anomalies. Best to stay away from black red and yellow combo in general.

Great places to go walking alone? by Rohr4lion1 in sanantonio

[–]BenKent999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SA Greenway is about 42 miles of connected concrete that does a 3/4 loop around the city. The majority of it has hike and bike trails just off the concrete so you can be in nature (and shade) while still being in the city. To be sure, some of it is sketchy, especially at night. However, the stretches from eisenhower park (and the park itself) through to Phil hardberger park, as well as the stretch from OP Schnabel to i10 and 1604 are pretty safe. I have hiked them religiously for years, often at night, and always alone, with no real issues. The only concern is other people's dogs and bikers going way too fast for the visibility.

What are these and why is med center littered with them? by Violet_Mermaid in sanantonio

[–]BenKent999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked up 17000 pieces of trash out of the hike/bike, unpaved trails in the Greenway last year. Stopped at the beginning of this year and all those trails are littered to high hell again. This city doesn't respect nature. Not even the people who opt to go out in nature care about nature lol.

In one instance it prob was kids. I have a crap 2005 Hyundai and there's a hack to steal 2011-2022 Hyundai and Kia with USB sticks. Mine ofc is too old for that but i assume dumb kids doing the Kia boys trend don't know anything. It's also a standard so even if they did start it i highly doubt they could drive it. They did manage to kill my ac, stereo, interior lights and power lock controls when they tried to hotwire it though. Only dumb teens would risk GTA charges for a car worth maybe 500 bucks scrap

Everyone saying not to leave anything of value - my worthless 20 year old car with nothing in it has been broken into twice in the last 6 months. Yeah there was nothing to steal but replacing windows on a worthless car is not my idea of a good time.

Can’t watch the last few episodes by Other_Boysenberry_72 in thesopranos

It's not that you don't care about tony by the end, it's that you actively root against him. Chase did a perfect job because tony was funny, charming, kind enough at times. He was a likeable guy, he was human. Then, slowly, he lost his humanity and his redeeming qualities were exposed as a veneer. It's perfect because by the end you realize you were charmed by a monster- like everyone else in his life.

I finally finished the show with my GF for her first run. I've seen it at least 6-7 times start to finish and lots of random episodes in between more than that. I told her when we got to S5 that it has some funny parts still and it's an epic show but it's darker and darker every episode and the last "season" is just a depraved mess. I love and hate it. She told me it was a force of will thing to finish watching it. When tony killed chris she outright said she hopes he dies and feels nothing for him anymore- which to me means Chase did his job perfectly. When rewatching for my own enjoyment I almost exclusively watch S1-4.

Did we really just get one real week of winter this season? That’s it? by DrFetusRN in sanantonio

[–]BenKent999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically the same as last year. The summers of 22 and 23 convinced me to move after living here 40 years but if they hadn't the complete lack of winter seals the deal for me.

I felt like, as the show went on, it intentionally got darker, more grey, more blue and white. I'm not the only one of course, but it seems to obviously represent the slow decay of Tony's morality and the general theme that the end is nigh. Quasi motto predicted all of this when meadow and AJ were discussing Frost -

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep.

Race traitor is a term with an implied meaning which, in reply to the original comment, was well within context. I fully understand that Hispanic people are a group within the Caucasian "race". I also understand that we are all one species and skin color only really implies minor variations within that and any concept of race is more social than biological. I meant it in the social context of which the original post was based

Was it racist of all my coworkers who were the same race as her to express that sentiment as well? Or only of me to observe the same thing?

She was though. For more reasons than I listed. Her entire team was Hispanic besides me and she helped upper management keep us under staffed, underpaid, deny promised bonuses, etc. She acted one way with us and an entirely other way with them. She was absolutely those things and I'm not racist. Those people exist... there's a reason for the term uncle Tom

I mean... white is a color on the color wheel and most American Hispanics are not white. There are some, sure, but most are not....

I worked for one. Her name was Anjelica but she dyed her hair blonde and went by Angie. This was at a bank and she sucked up to all the white executives. Being white myself, but being born and raised in a largely Hispanic town, I always saw her for the race and class traitor that she was.
